A) is it still freeware? (was it even ever freeware? ahah 0_o)

B) is there any point in getting it..? do people still play it?

A) I don't think it's freeware anymore.

B) Yes!! Tons and tons of people still play it! It's worth getting, if you are a fan of FPS gaming... Coutner-Strike (the original and Source) is one of my favorite FPS games of all time! (Not to mention just one of my all time favorite games)

Actually, it's still sorta freeware if you own Half-Life or Half-Life 2. However, if you don't own either, you'll have to buy it seperately.

I'm amazed the game is still so popular. Then again, I still play Day of Defeat now and then myself.

Trust me, to this day Counter Strike is still one of the most played multiplayer games. If you have STEAM, you can pretty much find a server with tons of people instantly.
