Unreal Engine 3, though I think Cry Engine 2 have the better explosions.

Just my opinion.

Oh, GeOW had unreal 3? No idea. Heck, I thought UT3 was the first game with Unreal 3.

I would say Crysis, but the thing is, the screenshot doesn't look that good, it's like it was taken at a bad time or something, cuz I don't remember the game looking that wierd, mainly the explosion. Is it the PC version of gears that has unreal engine 3? Cuz Gears looked amazing on PC.

CryEngine 2 looks better, but I like UE3 more... when the devs don't go crazy with the bloom lighting.

The Xbox 360 version of Gears of War had Unreal Engine 3. It just couldn't turn all the settings up to the max like a PC can. And I choose the CryEngine, because texture pop-in gets kind of annoying after a while (UE3).

Cryengine 2 definitely, this isn't really all that debatable.

Cryengine 2 has better effects and delivers more detail in large scale environments.

UnrealEngine 3 doesn't look all that amazing anymore, it actually looks pretty generic now. Sure, it was the "Wow" engine of 2006...but moving onto 2008 UE3 doesnt have the impressive factor it did back in 2006. Hell, the engine in COD4 looks better then any UE3 game IMO.

Fact is UE3 is becoming old news, The only benefit I really see about UE3 is that it's most suitable for multiplatform console games since it works well within the hardware confines of consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3.

But when talking about which is the most advanced engine with the best effects, textures, and environmental detail and handling of large scale environments...the Cryengine 2 engine beats it out hands down.

Is it the PC version of gears that has unreal engine 3? Cuz Gears looked amazing on PC.

ElArab

The PC version of Gears of War uses an updated and more advanced build of Unreal Engine 3 in comparison to the 360 version....in addition the PC version of Gears uses more detailed textures.....but even then, the environmental detail doesn't compare to Crysis.

I'll take any engine over UE3. UE3 is in homogenizing gaming.

What about Tech5? That's even worse, as far as making it so everything looks the same. I applaud it from a technical standpoint, but I'm worried it's gonna be overutilized.

cryengine 2 has: much larger draw distance, physics, no texture pop in, better water, lighting/shadowing, better textures, paticles effects and other DX10 features.

UT3 engine has:ummmmmmmm.................................???

Far Cry Engine 2

Superdude475

Just to be clear, Far Cry 2 is NOT using CryEngine 2.

Unreal Engine 3 is better in my opinion, so that's my choice.
