I swear on so many boards in the last month or so there have been at least half a dozen people asking either if there will bemultiple discs/why they think there should be multiple discs

In games like Skyrim I can understand, there is a chance that RPGs can have more than one, but on games like AC Revelations, GTA V and hell even MW3 I can't understand the thinking. Why on earth do people think that they would have more than one disc?

Is that people think more discs = more content? Or do they just not know that games like Lost Oddessy, FFXIIIand LA Noire had multiple discs because they had an abnormal amount of of FMV sequeneces, Cutscenes, Audio etc. which obviously take up tonnes of space

It's because of data space that games took up. So more disc being used in some of the best games. ESP those with cool ingame videos!

I don't really mind if a game comes on muliple discs or not. It doesn't take that much effort to change CDs midway through installation. If installing from a disc bothers them they should just download it which is fast becoming the standard method of aquisition now anyway. Although, I'm waiting for games to become widely available on Blu-Ray so that we're back to one-disc games but until then I'm fine with 1-4 sets.

For Xbox 360 (at least), I've always wondered why more games that take up multiple discs don't just give you the option to install the lenghtier parts to the console, and have the first disc as the play disc. Along to go with that, if you lost the extra content disc, why not have that content downloaded for free?

People ask about games like GTA V, AC:R, or MW3 because there have been several games this year on the 360 that have been on multiple discs that aren't that long. Games like Dead Space 2, or Rage.

It has nothing to do with content, it's just that games have gotten bigger data wise. They're having more trouble compressing it all down to a single DVD these days.

I'm not overly fussed either way, really.

I used to work in video games retail and it used to drive us crazy when a game had multiple discs as they were a nightmare to fit into our regular storage system.

Apart from that though, as a gamer I don't really have a problem with changing the disc, yet as mentioned earlier, it would be good if we had the option to install the data from disc 2,3,4 etc so it could all be played directly from the hard drive -- they're big enough after all! :)

Rage is a massive game which comes with 2 discs.
