Played many RPGs? Character recruitment is common to most. In DAO you're recruiting many armies of many nations to fight an even larger army. I ME2 it's just the Normandy. The only thing I see in common is recruiting party members, but as I said, that's common to many RPGs.

A lot of genres share similarities, but that doesn't mean that their stories aren't creative and well told, which I find to hold true for ME2.

If you look hard enough you can find similarities amongst different games everywhere. But that doesn't mean they aren't original in their own right.

Your objectives are the same, gather up forces to fight a seemingly invincible foe. However the plot/storyline for these two games are different. In DAO your team joins you along the way and your recruiting an armies. Whereas in ME2 your recruiting team mates. But the storyline is different for each squad member as well as for each army.

I have no idea what this has to do with either game since neither is an FPS

Right? You would think they would get smart and throw them every once in a while, but nooooo, they have to shoot them.. Total BS. Dont even get me started on this armor stuff.

They are very similar in structure, but the devil's in the details, no? Mass Effect 2's universe is so unique -- the chance to explore it and influence the course of its history makes the game an instant classic.

It's an example used to illustrate the pointlessness of the TC's initial statement.

What? How dare I be forced to employ higher order cognitive reason in this forum. I snub my nose at the very notion.

That's actually a pretty good example F1L.
I know Japan has a lot of interactive novel games, but there's really nothing like that that has penetrated Western markets, nor emplyed later gen graphics.

Wow, you noticed that too?!? Did you also notice that in both games you can fight monsters!! Bioware is very unoriginal.

Bioware uses a similar structure for many of their games. Each chapter of NWN1 (from what I can remember) had four areas that you could go to in an order of your choosing; KOTOR had an intro, then four non-linear planets, and then the conclusion; Jade Empire...I don't remember at all, maybe that was entirely linear; Mass Effect had an intro, then three/four non-linear planets, then the conclusion; Dragon Age did the same; and now Mass Effect 2 did the same again. And that's just an extremely basic look at their games - they reuse plots and structures all of the time. I mean how many Bioware games have used an engineered plague at some point? :P But yes, anyway, they get away with it because they've got style, and because ultimately it really doesn't make a difference. I prefer other, far more original developers for my RPG stories, but Bioware always delivers a solid (if not exactly unique) experience, so...I'm happy with them.
