The second is my favorite RPG of all time.

I hate most RPG's so that tells you something.

2 was a homerun. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that game except maybe the kiddy graphics and sounds(the graphics look great just kiddy). It has awesome weapon crafting, You have to rebuild towns and although you have to do certain things the rest is up to you letting you be totally creative, it has kick ass mini-games, and the combat is phenominal.

#1 was interesting and stuff but the perma-break weapons and stuff werent very helpful.

As others have said, Dark Cloud 2 is widely considered a VAST improvement over the original Dark Cloud. Beter story, improved combat and town building systems, and more developed characters.

I actually had quite a bit of fun with the first one but I bought it when it came out and it is rather an empty game so I could see how going back to it might be a tad boring (although I did enjoy mauling the most powerful dungeon denizens with a fully empowered machine gun). The second one is a massive improvement though and it's got quite a bit to do so I wouldn't let your feelings for the first one um..."cloud" your judgement for the second which is like night and day.

Sorry about that. :(

I don't know if you've played Rogue Galaxy yet but if you haven't, you may want to check this game out too. Same makers, and has been referred as 'Dark Cloud 3' by fans.

first was ok but IMO way too repetitive had an almost RTS feeling to the town building

I realy dislike clowns so the aspect of killing them alone was enough to make me love the second DC.

there is a variety of levels with interesting characters and the play is great fun as opposed to the first one of Dungeon crawling and doing the same thing over and over.
