The first one I'd just pass on personally. It's extremely repetitive and shallow by todays standards. Not played enough of the second one personally to pass a proper judgement, but the makers did improve the other aspects of the game significantly.Genexi2Is there any story elements that would make me want to get the first and second one?
From what I recall reading somewhere, Dark Cloud was intended to be more fleshed out, but the project got rushed. Thus why we got what we did with it. Random-generated maps, repetitous play, and a rather unfinished story and characters.
Dark Cloud 2 (Chronicle outside North America) I feel, was what Dark Cloud was INTENDED to be like, had Level 5 not been rushed to get the first one out.
Both could be played seperately from each other, as the stories and their characters are seperate. The first could be passed over if you so wish.
I own both games, and love both of them very much.
I've played through both of them, on more than one occasion, and recommend them to anyone.
Personally, I'd go with Dark Cloud 2 if you haven't played either. It seems a little more finished. Dark Cloud in no way is an unfinished game though. It's still an amazing masterpiece. Just DC2 seems like it would be easier to get into.
Overall, go get one of them. You are missing out.
