What would you like to get first ? I love both games.

The Witcher 3's two DLC expansions are out, and they are fantastic. Dark Souls 3's DLC is not out yet...so it's an easy decision to make at the moment.
Witcher 3 all the way. Yeah, it has bugs, glitches, and some performance issues, but it is worlds better than DS3. I have tried DS3 on three different rigs that could all run Witcher 3 at 60fps, DS3 can barely get 35 fps, whilst looking like a game from 2009. I dont really care about the souls series graphics, but if gameplay is key, and graphics are not a big focus, you better damn sure make your game perform well. Like 4 patches in, and it still performs like garbage. W3 by miles............

Weird. Dark Souls 3 runs great for me.

Yeah, I dont get it. My gpu is an r9 480x 4gb and should easily handle this game. I know my cpu, an amd fx6200, isnt awesome, but it is not trash, and it can handle W3, MGSV, GTAV, etc real well. I dont get it. Tons of people with better systems than I have the same problems. From coded the game to only utilize one core most of the time, which is insane, considering dual cores and more were available since before even the first Dark Souls game. It's crazy to me how DS2 SOFTS ran perfect 60 fps maxed, always. This? Awful.
@hillelslovak: yeah there's no doubt their optimisation is bad even for consoles. I mean considering that the graphics are not good in dark souls games I also expected that would mean better performance which is essential for a game like this which focuses so much on gameplay. Higher framerate is so key in games like this where you have to time your parry and dodge the quicker enemy attacks. You can still easily manage with 30fps but 60fps just feels so much better and more responsive.
Has to be Dark Souls III. Any reason to keep playing is a plus in my opinion.
And, though I'll give TW3 props for being a better overall package. I prefer the combat in DkSIII, plus has competitive multiplayer that still has me hooked.
Not to mention TW3s input lag can be horrendous, which is why I think the combat is below average.

On top of the low fps DS3 has, it's extremely unstable. The fps goes up and down, up and down at absurd rates.
I know this is kind of an obvious answer, but it really depends on your prior experiences I think. If you really love the Dark Souls franchise and you're very familiar with DaS and DaS2, then it's worth getting DaS3.
Dark Souls has a pretty good pick-up-and-play feeling about it, in that you can play for just a few minutes and still make some good progress. And of course, you can play cooperatively and player-versus-player.
The Witcher is, well...such a time-suck! In a good way, of course. I'm still ploughing through The Witcher 3 after a good couple of dozen hours on it (I'm about level 18 now). On the one hand it's great, but it also doesn't lend itself to very short bursts of play, I find (at least for me). As much as I want to get the expansions, I'm afraid of what they'll do to my social life!! :P
So it's very hard to give you a recommendation here.
P.S. As for the performance of DaS3, it really depends what platform you're going for. I have it on PS4, and I can't complain; it's pretty smooth in terms of frame rate, with very occasional dips (which are themselves rare and brief in occurrence). I can't speak for it on PC, and that's a minefield anyway because it depends on your individual PC specs.
Good luck with your decision!

Have Dark Souls III on P.C. and PS4 and think both do a pretty decent job on the performance scale.
Have TW3 on PS4 and would argue that DkSIII runs smoother on that particular platform.
On P.C. however, it's more little issues I find with DkSIII over the FPS like some people above. Example- enemies randomly spawning in places 10+ seconds later. But as you stated I might just have a more fitting set-up than other peoples Personal Computers.
I play a lot of Dark Souls III when I have time, everything else I've pretty much back-logged.
And play the recent versions, so I don't know if the issues above from various users are from launch, or pre-launch only experiences. But DkSIII performs well, has done with all but the early versions and it's my go-to game on two systems still.
It is flawed, little hiccups every now and then, but definitely not a disaster. It's no Blighttown, least not from my experience (from your friendly neighbourhood Invader)
