The only thing that DSII shares with Zelda is the structure. (dungeons and whatnot.)
That being said, it was an awesome game, I loved the hell out of it even though most of the boss battles were kinda lame.
Darksiders II is a good game, but saying it is what Zelda wishes to be doesn't make sense.
Zelda games have followed the same structure (essentially) since the beginning, Zelda games are very comfortable being what they are.
I am with vader on this. I was really hyped to play Darksider 2 after the awesome Darksiders 1, but first it turned out to be a prequel and then gave us these really boring dungeons where you do nothing really. I have no idea what happened to the item and puzzle heavy dungeons from the first game. Now I only played two dungeons before getting bored and moving onto Far Cry 3, but the dungeons and the story just felt phoned in.Â
They shoud've just continued from the ending of the first game and given us a borderlands styIe 4 player coop.Â
I started playing this a few weeks ago until Rising preoccupied my time. Gotta say, I'm not really feeling it with the loot system right now, nor do the dungeons really have the unique feel the original provided. I with Vader on this. I do really the like the improved combat though. Death is nimble and pretty fun to control. I'm hoping the gameplay rides with me to the end, since I already know the game's story doesn't really go anywhere.
I'd probably have a better opinion of the game, but I'm actually stuck in a dungeon cause some giant dumbass npc that is supposed to help me clear the area got stuck in some geometry and the game saved so now I can't continue.
Despite the fact that it tapers off towards the end, Darksiders 2 was some of the most fun I had in 2012. Great game.
I played through the original Darksiders and got a bit annoyed with many sections that feel copied from other games. (ie - Zelda, Portal, etc) Â I also couldn't stand all the backtracking. Â I have DII on my PC and if they fixed some of that stuff I'm sure it will be worth it. Â I really like the style and general direction of the series but those original complaints annoyed me quite a bit with the original.
Well, its over, The Publisher, Studio and IP are dead. And I was really hoping to see how co-op would've worked out in Darksiders III.I played through the original Darksiders and got a bit annoyed with many sections that feel copied from other games. You know, I'd love to see Nintendo counter Darksiders and make an M-rated Zelda. Nintendo could also enjoy a high dose of controversy like SE and CD did when they revamped Tomb Raider.JustPlainLucas
I would really like this as well, and it's something I've always wanted. The potential for the Zelda universe to be dark and disturbing is huge...

It's already dark and disturbing in Majora's Mask.
But I see what you're saying. It'd be neat if Ninty made it almost lke a Fantasy Horror game.

Just make another Majora's Mask-like entry then. Way more interesting to see them create a dark atmosphere while still avoiding the M-rating. Forces them to be clever.

Agreed, it is...the darkest Zelda game, and probably why this is my favorite Zelda game, but the series as a whole isn't.

I remember after I completed Majora's Mask for probably the 3rd time, and I was hoping so bad that this was the new direction for the Zelda franchise. Nope...

I agree with what c rake said. Rather than making an M rated Zelda, if they keep it mild, even to a T rating, it would force them to be clver like they were so often in Majora's Mask. There was so much sh!t in that game that was just really unsettling and disturbing, more than in a lot of M rated games, but it was rated E. To me that's one of the many reasons it's BGOAT.
I just finished it, really didn't like. Everything just felt kind of tedious. Thought most of the dungeons were uninteresting, combat was easy and if you got the right loot (which I did because I never died) broken, the story and world were ok but I never felt like I was accomplishing anything as the game went on.
It was ok or bland level design, ok combat that has been done before, an ok world, broken difficulty, and boring often stupid puzzles (oh no a gate how will I get through, why don't you just turn around and squeeze through, really hate puzzles in games like this where I can think of about four ways to get past an obstacle that I'm not allowed to do).

And you can't be clever with blood? :?[QUOTE="c_rake"][QUOTE="Blueresident87"]I would really like this as well, and it's something I've always wanted. The potential for the Zelda universe to be dark and disturbing is huge...JustPlainLucas

And you can't be clever with blood? :?MM was more unsettling than a lot of bloody games. It did this with a very small blood effect.

Blood's fine. I just wouldn't want them to go all-in on an M-rating. Just wouldn't be Zelda, otherwise.

That would be great but Nintendo prefer the "bright", cartoony-style found in Skyward Sword and Wind Waker or atleast that's the impression I have...
A Majora remake for 3DS is probably not out of question tho.
Zelda being M-rated wouldn't really make the games better at all. generallt games get M-ratings for having blood, cursing, sexual themes, not just for being dark and unsettling.Â
I have nothing against blood, cursing, or sexual themes, but a game can still be damn good and even disturbing without such things (like Majora's Mask), and also such things would be completely out of place in a Zelda game.Â
Darksiders 2 was a great improvement over it's solid predecessor. Really liked the integrated RPG elements.

It's an easy boss, but when you're trying to lock on to his balls (lol), the ones that he rolls at you in his second phase? Jesus.

The only aspect with DSII that I was truly disappointed in was the boss battles. In the irst they were much more Zelda- Esque with repeated patterns and certain ways of defeating them. In 2 it was pretty much "dodge and attack when needed"... Just like regular combat. The majority of the bosses were just tougher versions of common enemies which rally disappointed me.

Also there's not many of them, at least in the first 10 hours. In several dungeons you open a box and you're done, no boss, just an anticlimax.[QUOTE="turtlethetaffer"][QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"] Nah, I exaggerated on purpose.Black_Knight_00
