DEAD CELLS: Bow or Shield?

Can't recall using bow that much, maybe I used Spears? But I'd pick the shield.

Were you probably playing the Wolfenstein sequel SPEAR OF DESTINY rather than the title being discussed here?

I haven´t yet encountered any spears in DEAD CELLS and i am about into the 4th level to this point.

The shield in DEAD CELLS is kinda crap coz you still lose lifepoints while hiding behind it under attack, so i guess it´s rather there to crank up the difficulty level a bit.

I like both bows and shields, but I remember using that frost blast thingy most of the time. Paired it with a melee wep.

Sounds like you need to play more. There are different kinds of shields that do different stuff. Grab some shield-specific traits between levels and they can get very fun to use.

And there are spears.

THAT! I actually received that one just yesterday for the first time! Yeah it´s definitely one of the better weapons.

The thing with SHIELDS....yes of course there come better ones, but there also come better BOWS and when i remember those "better shields", i still lost some lifepoints when using them under attack, so i rather keep my distance and shoot bows...especially if i am low on lifepoints (and already out of bottles) and especially then when I am about to face some friggin boss battle, where it would be pointless to defend myself with the shield when losing some health with every strike the SHIELD is taking.

But anyway, BOW seems less complicated, as i anyways tend to dodge-roll enemies while making the shield seemingly more useless to me.

Yes i am aware and i already thought i am probably starting a rather dead thread from day one hehe. But i also know that game is well known and probably lots of guys here have played it before.
