What exactly is the difference between these 2 games? Is Riptide a completely new campaign or an upgraded version of an existing one? When do the new environments come in? I've seen new environments and other stuff from videos, but at the same time, a lot of old stuff. Cutscenes and everything. What exactly is it? A sequel or a remake or what?

It's a sequel but a very close copy to the original. They are both worth playing IMO.

My review for Riptide if you're interested in the read.

@bowchicka07: Thanks, buddy, I read the review. I can't get enough of this game. I get really immersed while playing this.

So I can import my character as well. My question is, do I have to finish the normal Dead Island first before I can import them or can I import whenever I want?

I'm quite certain you don't have to finish Dead Island as I had the option to import characters I didn't finish the main story with.

No you don't have to finish this campaign on Dead Island to import your character to Riptide.

The reason I know this is because I farmed an achievement in Dead Island called Right 4 Life in which you had to beat act I with all 4 characters.

Then when I started Riptide it gave me the option to import all of them. Possibility there's a level 15 requirement but I doubt it.

You can import any character anytime i believe.

Also try the analog fighting mode. Adds a bit of a challenge but with practices give you more accuracy with blade weapons.

its completely different despite what a lot of haters will tell you, they more less improved the entire game and made a sequel, better animations, badass new moves, ect.. when you compare Riptide to the original its like comparing a brand new car to a rusted go kart, Riptide remains one of my favorite games of all time and imo the only reason some people hate it is cause they haven't played it long enough and/or experimented with it long enough to realize all the improvements.

There have a few differences but I wouldn't go that far in contrasting them.Riptide was great but it was just Dead Island with a few new features.

those new features were huge to me, the ability to take a running start and mule kick a zombie, sending them flying a mile away! lol good stuff. ;)

Dead Island is like a Alpha and was a epic mess while Dead Island Riptide is closer to a last stage Beta and felt more controlled, they are pretty similar thou but at least i felt that the game was a lot more focused and weapons and gameplay mechanics felt a lot more polished.
