Well...it's official...the next dead rising game is going to have a time limit. Apparently it's the 72 hours like the first dead rising. I really really hope you dont have missions that you need to do by a certain time, because you really can't enjoy the full game. I mean unless your a master at this game, you pretty much are forced to focus totally on the story missions so you can continue to be able to play and not fail it and start over. I mean you pretty much have to make one playthrough being solely focused on saving people and killing bosses and one playthrough doing only story missions. It will suck bigtime if the time limit is the same as the first. But they will have more than 1 save slot. Maybe that will help it some.

Personally, I loved it, it added a whole new layer to the game. From what I remember, couldn't you basically stand in a bathroom the entire time, and your ride would still come? Regardless, it gave a pretty intense aspect to everything in the game, though there was one mission that I (and lots of other people) had a lot of trouble making it on time to (pharmacy mission i think), but otherwise I thought it was awesome. Glad to see it's back, honestly.

I liked the time limit feature myself, I found that it gave the game a sense of urgency and it really fit the core of what the game was all about.

Nice, made the game more intense to play the first time through. I'm sure you can unlock unlimited time modes like in the first one.

Well, when you think about it, having a time limit in a game like this is pretty appropriate. I mean, if you're stuck in the middle of a zombie apocalypse scenario, you'd think that time is of the essence, right? I'll probably pick this one up, as I enjoyed the first in spite of it's steep difficulty/learning curve. Hopefully they'll have some cool new improvised weapons to grab.

Did you watch the G4 interview? In the footage, the guy had this chainsaw voulge...basically a stick with a chainsaw on each end that he twirled around like a staff. They also mentioned the teddy bear gun turret.

Even the push broom was interesting. At first it was tame, just knocking people back, but then the head broke off and it was all stabby, stab, stab with a five foot wooden stake.

I also like the time limits. The guy they were talking to said they kept it around because it was something the fans really enjoyed about the original. They have, however, changed the save system so you can have multiple saves now. So if you don't like the time limits, this will help you work around them with out having to restart the game.

Maybe the time limit will be a bit more lax, possibly even throw in some situations where you can extend the time limit maybe? ( I sure as hell hope so.) Also, the survivor A.I. needs a serious overhaul. I failed so many times because the idiot survivors would not obey my commandsand, " FOLLOW ME!"

Good. The game wouldn't be worth playing if there was no time limit. It added a sense of tension and forced you to choose between rescuing the survivors you could and doing missions. It increased replay value. It was nothing but good for the first game and is why its made it again into the seoncd. Anyone who complains isn't meant to enjoy the game in the first place.

Oh I definately agree with that last part. The friendly AI was abysmal, I lost a lot of survivors because they decided to fight 100s of zombies, instead of run with me to safety.

Funny story about that. Those two japanese guys in the book store, you remember those guys right? I gave them shotguns to protect themselves with... huge mistake. They killed each other.

That one was a deal breaker. Dead Rising was a pretty good game, but some highly questionable game design kept it from being a great game. Anyone who was able to complete everything must be a master of time management and has the mall memorized.

Tension is good, difficulty is good, increased tension and difficulty caused by poor game design and braindead AI, not so good.

I'm glad to hear, there will be a time limit, I loved the time limit in Dead Rising it was challenging, and took some careful planning and time management. It pushed you to level up your character and best of all gave the game replay value. Challenging yourself to try and bet your last score. However I failed to ever save all the survivors, is it even possible lol. Also I have a question, something I've never looked into before, so I'll just ask now. The song that plays when you battle Adam The Clown, does it say "It's time to play, win that Warp", which would make sense, since you unlock the short cut through the toilets.

QuistisTrepe_

And that's the point. You aren't meant to be able to do everything the first time around. You have to spend time learning about the mall in order to do better the 2nd, 4th and 10th times. That, and its only "faulty game design" because you say it is. The funny thing is, it works for Dead Rising, so how is that "faulty game design"?

However I failed to ever save all the survivors, is it even possible lol. Gary_Champloo

Not only is it possible to rescue them all, but you can get a fair number of the story missions done at the same time. Considering many of the survivors are unlocked after missions.

I can't say I'm too excited about the time limit being back; when you can take up to five hours game time, getting to a person and guiding them back to the safe room or other location, that's a little ridiculous. I can understand the reasoning in implementing the time limit, I just wish the time ratio was a little closer to 1:2

It would be nice to have a mode without any real limit for winning the game. Something to goof off with a friend.

Isn't DR2 supposed to take place in Vegas? Maybe you can use cars to speed things up a bit.

There were vehicles in the first game, you just couldn't use them in a majority of the inside areas.

Survival mode. 5 or 7 day modes, no missions or survivors.

How do you know that was my biggest gripe about the game, how do you know I had any big gripe about what you quoted? Hey, I guess the AI works for Dead Rising too? I guess it is because you say it is. The funny thing is, many people seem to have a lot of the same gripes about the game that have been discussed in this thread and elsewhere, so how does it all "work for Dead Rising?"

What? Is it really so out of line to acknowledge the obvious- that there may have been some flaws in a near 1st gen X360 game? Please, don't be contrarian just for the sake of it.

The friendly AI in Dead Rising was undeniably horrible. If they fix the AI, it will actually make the time limit less of a con (for the people who found it to be so), because the survivors will actually listen to you instead of wasting your (valuable in-game) time by trying to collect them.

Im glad. I liked the time limit thing overall, just hated the save system and that I had to find a bathroom everytime I wanted to save. Oh and survivors lol, I never bothered with them. More like walking zombie bait.

This is the only way they could make such a stupidly simplistic game have any replayability at all. If they gave you enough time to do everything in 1 playthrough no one would ever play it again and would see right through how short it is.
