I downloaded this as soon as I saw that it was available, and I was interested to know what GGD thought if it. It was great to step back into Isaac Clarke's boots (and he speaks now :)) and the dismember-centric gunplay is as satisfying as ever. The weapons feel chunkier and more satisfying to use than the first game, the necromorphs are even more gloriously disgusting and thanks to his new suit jets Isaac can freely control his path in zero-g.

That said, I felt that the level the demo showed us was a bit weak (although the sequence at the end got my adrenaline flowing), leading me to wonder if folks who weren't convinced the first time round will be persuaded now. Anyway, any thoughts?

I cannot f****** wait for this game. Dead Space is still one of the best games this generation, and after so many disappointing sequels, I'm praying that they deliver.

Based on what I've seen it looks we're going to have a solid adventure come January :)

It plays like the first Dead Space, not that it's bad or anything just hoping there would be more content when the full game is released,

I'm wondering, would it have been possible to give us a taste of the multiplayer element as well? I've no idea what stage the MP is at but it would have been interesting to have a look-see.

You can't have both. and single player is where dead space excels. I thought the demo was awesome. Starts off slow but shows us all the new mechanics and tweaks to the gameplay while still showing some new enemies and weapons. It feels very familiar and very fresh at the same time. The demo was awesome. Definitely makes me want to buy the game instead of rent like I was going to

Indeed, single player is what we've come to see. Roll on the new year.

Cut their limbs. Its easier to chop one leg, and then go for an arm, this normally kills them. (If you chop a leg and the head, there is a 50/50 chance for it to still move)

--------

I liked the impaling weapon, it was very reminescent of Painkiller's stake launcher, only that you can electrify this ones too. I was pleased.

Glad they took out the Rifle's secondary fire from the 1st game (where the rifle fired in a 360 degree, consuming basically all your ammo), it was useless, glad that now it has grenades.

Plasma Cutter and Line Gun are basically the same tho', which is ok.

Ooh, grenades! I must admit I hadn't noticed, I shall have to give it a try (I think you're right about the spray 'n pray alt fire from the first game - not very handy at all).

Oh, about the weapons i also noticed other stuff.

Better animation while reloading.

The Line Gun now can latch its grenades EXACTLY where its aiming, it doesnt seems to have a max range anymore, you can also put them on the wall, ceiling, etc. This is greatly appreciated. Also, the explosion is larger, or at least the shockwave resulting from it is larger.

The Stake Launcher can electrify the stakes even if it didnt hit an enemy, also, the electric discharge has a longer duration if you dont fire again and just wait for it to end, you can also fire right away interrupting the discharge if in a hurry. You can fire the stake to a surface and release the electric discharge to stun enemies (careful, it can stunt you too) and the discharge can stun enemies near the one impaled.

The Rifle can now shoot grenades, they consume a lot of ammo (25 units) but the blast is very big, and it detonates on contact. Seems to create explosions around it (it like a multi explosion at the same time instead of just one)

Same. I had just put my kid down for a nap and fired up the demo. A few minutes later I have screaming children and gunfire coming from my TV. My wife wasn't happy about it.

Enjoyed it. Never beat the first game. Great sound and lighting. What did everyone else think of Isaac's voice?

I couldn't play it. Demo kept freezing up on me every single time, so I just watched it on youtube. I think the first thing that really stood out for me was the game's sound. Everything sounds much more pronounced and sickening than I remember. Animations look a little better, and the some of the environments look pretty darn good. That cathedral-like area looks nicely creepy.

The demo looks great. I wasn't thinking too much about the DS2 until this came out, and as long sticks to the formula that made the first game so good, it's a definite purchase for me. Don't care about the multiplayer though, so I hope it doesn't have too negative of an impact on the single player.

I posted this in the Dead Space 2 forum and just copy pasting: Before you read my post, I still loved the demo and will definitely be getting Dead Space 2; however, this game is very different. Maybe it was just me, but the atmosphere did not seem to be there at all. This game does rely more on jump scares, and while the first game never exactly scared me I liked that it was more intense. You also run A LOT faster and no longer have to go into the menu to get health, statis pack and you don't need to hold LT and press A to reload, just press X. I personally like, actually love these features. However, others will argue "THIS TAKES AWAY THE STRATEGY" but honestly you could just play it on a harder difficulty. This game is definitely more actiony, and while I welcome the changes others probably won't.

You never needed to do this in DS1 either, you also only had to push O and you will automatically use the smaller health pack in the inventory without need to open it.

Well, as for the rest, i think they just placed the demo in a more action-packed place just to show the combat and weapons, doesnt mean all the game has to be that way. We dont really know in which part of the game we are placed in the demo. Actually, the demo for Dead Space 1 was just a room where you killed necromorph and that was it.

Not criticizing, just pointing out some stuff.
