I dont really care how they absolutely had to make new classes. Or maybe i'm just way too attached to the old diablo 2 classes which in my opinion were perfect. Its not always for the better to come up with something new than implement already good and working formulae. Barbarian? Ok i'm glad they brought back atleast one old class but why barbarian? There were better and more interesting classes in d2 like the good'old necro. Wizard? A basic magic user class which is needed but why call it a wizard and not just bring back the old mage? Plus its hard to see a female as a wizard. Witch Doctor? I'm just hating this class for now because they just had to get rid of the necromancer and make something "new" which is still basicly a necromancer. I would also like if you could choose your own gender and adjust your basic appearance a bit.
For the two remaining classes i'm guessing they are also "oldnew" classes like the wizard and the witch doctor. So that leaves us something that wears heavy armor and uses auras or something similar and someone who uses a bow. I'm guessing a knight and a rogue.

Yeah, i think you're just way too attached to the original classes and you are giving more weight to the label of the class then the actual design intent of the class itself.
Personally i ddont find the classes in Diablo 2 for all of them to be perfect. The Paladin was simply a terrible class form a design philosophy and mechanic, in my point of view. I really hope they dont bring back ANYTHING like the Paladin in D3.
The Wizard is a wizard because the sorceror is closer to an elementalist than an actual wizard. A wizard deals with arcane magic and concepts rather than matering the elements. Where would slowing down time, or even teleport fit given the Sorcs 3 trees? The wizard is all about uncontrolled magical energies while the sorc is about refined, studied manipulation of elements. Even so, whats it really matter if its called a sorc or wizard? Its roughly the same thing for the purposes of game design mechanics. Why are you so hung up on the title?
The witch doctor is fine, and i prefer his style to the necromancer. The necromancer was rather limited. He only did one thing really well (golems, skellies, curses, or nukes) and that was about it. the witch doctor looks far more flexible and versatile in what he can. He's still not a replacement for a necro considering the witch doctor's pets are meant to be temporary and used as explosive devices.
The barbarian seems like a good fit to bring back. I think they were purposely trying to go for a bit "over-the-top" feeling when it comes to combat. Adding in the shamanistic/ancestral spirit magic to his attacks can achieve roughly the same kind of flashiness. A token front fighter is needed and the paladin's crap anyways. What should they bring back? The warrior from diablo 1?
