I am eagerly awaiting D3 and have been trying to figure out the next 2 c l a s s es there will be so far there is

Barbarian=power

Witch Doctor=pets/magic(replacement for necromancer)

Wizard=strong magic replacement for sorceress)

so I'm thinking the next two will be

Long range type bows etc maybe a ranger c l a s s (replacement for Amazon)

but this is where it gets tricky even though they say there will only be 5 c l a s s es before an expansion anyway what will the last be I'm thinking a

buff/healing c l a s s knight, priest (replacement for paladin)

what do you think?

I wish the male wizard looked older, kind of like a traditional wizard would. I love how the Barbarian looks this time around. I wish they kept the druid, or implement some sort of shape shifter.

I dont really care how they absolutely had to make new classes. Or maybe i'm just way too attached to the old diablo 2 classes which in my opinion were perfect. Its not always for the better to come up with something new than implement already good and working formulae. Barbarian? Ok i'm glad they brought back atleast one old class but why barbarian? There were better and more interesting classes in d2 like the good'old necro. Wizard? A basic magic user class which is needed but why call it a wizard and not just bring back the old mage? Plus its hard to see a female as a wizard. Witch Doctor? I'm just hating this class for now because they just had to get rid of the necromancer and make something "new" which is still basicly a necromancer. I would also like if you could choose your own gender and adjust your basic appearance a bit.

For the two remaining classes i'm guessing they are also "oldnew" classes like the wizard and the witch doctor. So that leaves us something that wears heavy armor and uses auras or something similar and someone who uses a bow. I'm guessing a knight and a rogue.

Most likely they will do something like this:

Crusader / templar / Knight / Cleric / Guardian = Paladin

Ranger / Hunter / Scout = Amazon

Either some sort of Druid/Paladin/Ranged or something totally random.

Druid or Dryad who controls natural elements, summons trees, and looks like an old elf. Amazon should be replaced by a gnome like the hunters in WoW who uses guns/ axes. Templar or Knight could work, but it would be too much like the Paladin of D2 and I suppose they are trying to mix things up.

According to the people making the game, they brought back the Barbarian because they felt that it was the one class that never really reached its potential and they felt they could implement a lot of new skills and a new style for him. I remember Jay Wright specifically saying that he didn't want to bring the Necromancer back because he felt that it was done to perfection in D2, and didn't really see how he could expand on that.

As far as the new classes go, I'd love to see something that is a melee class that does something new and different... I don't know what exactly, but I felt like the ranged classes dominated way too much in D2.

Yeah, i think you're just way too attached to the original classes and you are giving more weight to the label of the class then the actual design intent of the class itself.

Personally i ddont find the classes in Diablo 2 for all of them to be perfect. The Paladin was simply a terrible class form a design philosophy and mechanic, in my point of view. I really hope they dont bring back ANYTHING like the Paladin in D3.

The Wizard is a wizard because the sorceror is closer to an elementalist than an actual wizard. A wizard deals with arcane magic and concepts rather than matering the elements. Where would slowing down time, or even teleport fit given the Sorcs 3 trees? The wizard is all about uncontrolled magical energies while the sorc is about refined, studied manipulation of elements. Even so, whats it really matter if its called a sorc or wizard? Its roughly the same thing for the purposes of game design mechanics. Why are you so hung up on the title?

The witch doctor is fine, and i prefer his style to the necromancer. The necromancer was rather limited. He only did one thing really well (golems, skellies, curses, or nukes) and that was about it. the witch doctor looks far more flexible and versatile in what he can. He's still not a replacement for a necro considering the witch doctor's pets are meant to be temporary and used as explosive devices.

The barbarian seems like a good fit to bring back. I think they were purposely trying to go for a bit "over-the-top" feeling when it comes to combat. Adding in the shamanistic/ancestral spirit magic to his attacks can achieve roughly the same kind of flashiness. A token front fighter is needed and the paladin's crap anyways. What should they bring back? The warrior from diablo 1?

My guess is a ranged/stealth kind of class (Traps, bows, some kind of stealthy abilities) and a heavily armored buffing/debuffing class.

My guess would be Ranger and Paladin classes are left. I still can't believe they haven't updated the site, I have waiting a good 6months...no wait...I have waited about 9 bloody months for them to update the site and they still only have an old muscle head man, a girl wizard and a witch doctor that looks like he dug himself out of a swamp grave. Hopefully the last 2 characters will be a little more decent in the design. What I would give for a custom character feature.

I dont think it would! if you had the choice of playing the game in the conventional way or choose the path of Diablo, i think it would be more interesting.

Barbarian and Necro all the way!

yeah choose the path of Diablo :roll:, and fire bake every that comes your way? There would be no point in leveling up anyways. If a Prime Evil was weak, His minions would overtake him. Part of Diablo is building your character form ground up.

So long as they fairly BALANCE every class I really don't care what the classes are.

I'm looking at you D2 paladins...

The other two will quite predictably be a range/assassin type character and a tank/buff/healer hybrid that's primarily melee with 2-handers/1h+1shield. Yep, we are prolly seeing the same ol same ol "thief/ranger" and "paladin" but all they need to do is give them new names. That's will give us allow 5 normal archetypes in a RPG setting, a brutal DPS melee, a spellcaster, a pet class, a "thief/range" type and the tank. Yay. Unless they gonna go surprise and amaze us with something absolutely new and innovative, i can't think of anything else.

Well there you go then... if you could start of as a minion and work your way up to overthrow Diablo! 8)
