I was playing through my Playstation 2 game Ben 10 Ultimate Alein: Cosmic Destruction as I decided to start a new game so I'm going through the second leveland doing alright then when I'm finished with a boss fight then seeing a cutscene I go outside to fight so more enemies then this message begins to pop up on the screen saying disc read error then it would go on then continue to play then pop up again so I had to turn the system off.

I only had that issue only once on my older PS2 Slim before it died last fall so I started the game up to the save point I was at before the stuff all happened and everything seemed to be working fine almost like nothing had ever happened so should it be something to worry about or should I just not mind it as I was playing the system for a good 2 hours so maybe it was overheating so would that cause a disc read error maybe?.

Is it a new or old PS2? The laser could be busted. Or does the DVD have any scratches or something? Ben 10 UA CD is dope as f btw, though I think you should try out Ben 10 Protector of Earth if you like the original Ben 10 also, was fun as hell.

I think I remember seeing on tv actually that the Disk Read Error on old Fat PS2's are caused by a little plastic gear that goes bad. I used to have one and every game at one point would get "Disk Read Error" even brand new games. I mean if it's scratched or dirty then it's obvious, but if the disk it's perfectly fine then it's most likely the little gear.

My old PS2 Slim died last September after being used for 7 years so I have a new PS2 Slim that is only 7 months old now.

I haven't had any issues with any other games other then the common freezing like any other models.

I was playing the game just a little while ago and had no issues so maybe it was just a rare event that it happened.

I have played already this year 19 ps2 games as Ben 10 Ultimate Alien is the 20th that I'm playing and so far I have a disc read error with it twice now so I do remember that I had oe issue with the game back on the other ps2 before it died so I'm starting to think that it has to be the disc that is doing it as my Playstation 2 that I have now is only 7 months old and that this game is the only one so far this year that is giving me issues as with the other games I had the usually freezing issue.

You actually have to pay Sony since you waited sooo long. You could just get a slim.

its a common problem with PS2s sadly, both old and slim suffer from it too , though the the PS2S do suffer less from it.
