The flying wings feature is not what I was expecting. I thought after level 10 your character sprouts wings and you play a game where the sky is as much as an adventure as the ground, but it's not like that at all. Instead, the wings is just a limited time toggle skill that you click and some wings just instantly pop onto your character with no animation what-so-ever, then you instantly starts fluttering around and it's just like using a mount in World of Warcraft except your able to still attack while doing it.

And that's it..

You spent most the time on the ground and it's pretty much Lineage II again, nothing more nothing less.

All those screenshots you see of characters with awesome wings, all those landscapes you see them traveling across, that's all just marketing crap that doesn't deliver. The wings are just another thing for mounts, it just seems total fail and i'm disappointed, I was aware it was a Korean MMO and I know what they are like, but I expected at least a little bit of something different, but no, I was expecting too much.

I have a question with this topic. Is it just me? Am I being too fickle? I thought the game was all about fighting in the sky, but I wanted the flying to be a free form part of your character, like a bird, not a power up. The way they did it, it just doesn't seem right. It comes across as a stuck on aftertought, yet it's suppose to be the main feature of the game!?

Right now, when you just learn to fly, you won't be able to fly for a very long time. Later in the game, you will get items/gear that will increase that time. I haven't been in the beta, but I heard about this from a few who played the Korean release.

I think you read absolutely nothing about the game before trying it.

I followed the game from the very first picture of it on Europe from PC Zone years ago when Magazines were still a big thing. Having played the game in beta, it's nothing i've seen before. Lucky for me I didn't pre order it. I just borrowed my brothers beta access. It's offered nothing new, and it's not actually that pretty when your playing the game. The character modals are detailed, but the world is bland. It's pretty much on par with Warhammer Online in looks, which doesn't say a lot.

Maybe if I was a masochist i'll play the game more and come across some beutiful garden of the gods or whatever, but the first taste is in the eye, they should of thought of that and put me in that garden from the start. Not this snot green foggy wasteland i'm **** about in now.

Oh I can nit pick for hours, but my concern is the flying stuff. I got Champions Online to play so i'm not desperate.

Maybe this is more along the lines of what you're looking for. It's a "free to play" game, as far as I know, so you've got nothing to lose but your time.

Incidentally, it's developed by a company called Aeonsoft. :P

I have played other Korean and Chinese games - in Beta they make a game they think they can market and then when it comes out the first few months are spent improving it and using the first players to work out what how the game should be played and improvements will keep being made for a long time.

And not just Korean MMOs, that has happened in American run games too and the ones that do not make the necessary changes will fail because their community will leave out of frustration.

that is why so many come and go so quickly -

I'm not sure if this thread is dead, as I am new to Gamespot. and don't know much about the rules yet...I hope I don't offend everyone... I have been playing AION since it came out, and I have to say that I was pretty happy with it until the recent BAN wave. My account suddenly got banned for nothing and there is a good chance that all the gear I spent hours and hour on will be strippped for no reason.... I agree about using the first players to improve the game. This is very frustrating, as there are still a lot of problems to be solved. We continuously receive surveys to fill out about the gameplay, but the developers don't change anything even though i'm sure a lot of people are complaining. I just hope that I can get my account reinstated soon and that the developers will improve the game...otherwise I'm done...

It is very much dead. If a thread is more than two or three weeks old, it is a bad idea to bump it... otherwise, welcome to Gamespot! :)
