The internets are currently full of whining by people who can’t get into an Overwacth 2 match or who didn’t receive a Street Fighter 6 beta code. Uncertain if they comprehend that life doesn’t end if they can’t play video games.

Titleist released a carbon fiber titanium driver a while back and I couldn’t get in the first allocation. Did I march straight to Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, et. al., to whine? No, I shrugged and used my old driver.

I’m shocked at how many people have centered their lives, self identity, and self image around pushing plastic buttons to make some ones and zeros move on a screen.

Speaking as someone that doesn't have a life I don't act like this it's more of their personality trait.

Gave up my life when I took up office work, in advertising of all departments.

Gaming however brings me joy after a long day.

I don't see why we should blame the asocial for the actions of the self entitled.

Many asocial people are quite nice If you can get to speak to them in a way they are comfortable.

@GalvatronType_R: Not that I want to defend those people, but your analogy is not really applicable.

A golf club is a product. It's either there or it isn't. You can buy it and use it, place an order and wait, or ignore it.

With a video game, it's a product...and sometimes a service, in the case of Overwatch. So having people purchase your product only to provide insufficient or poor service is essentially a cocktease; these people are legitimately entitled to play the game after purchasing it, and Blizzard (either through poor security or insufficient resources, or both) is preventing them from doing so.

If you bought golf club, but every time you wanted to use it you had to call Titleist and ask for permission, and they weren't available, how frustrated would you be? Pretty damn frustrated. You could go use the other driver, but you shouldn't have to.

I get where you are coming from, though, and I tend to agree that the general attitude of some folks is pretty poor. Especially when it comes to people being impatient about release dates or duping themselves because the final product didn't look like the E3 build.

Ditto 😁

I think I'm pretty calm for the most part about my main hobby.

Although I am getting SICK AND TIRED OF THESE GOD DAMN GAAS!

Another example of gamers needing to get a life.

Ed Boon recently tweeted saying they’re focused on the 30th anniversary of MK and asking gamers to quit harassing NRS about their next project.

No one sends death threats, hate mail, or harassment to Rolex, Titleist, Ferrari about their next products because their customers have a higher social level, financial status, are more mature, and yes they have lives outside of timepieces, golf and cars.

Gamers don’t have much going on and find the time to punch keyboards furiously about frivolous inconsequential entertainment that they have based their entire lives around because they have nothing better to do.

I can't speak to all of the topics OP posed, but in regards to Overwatch 2 I feel that ActiBlizz screwed up there. They spent a lot of time working on this game, and then after it finally comes out there is some phone requirement to play it.

My response is, I'm just not playing Overwatch 2. And it's as simple as that.

I don't really think being into gaming means you don't have a life. It's a hobby like anything else and hobbies make life better.

@sargentd Yeah, I guess so, I haven't actually checked to see if the game is still asking for that. But new players will still be restricted by the requirement.

If they hadn't lifted the requirement I couldn't play at all, since it kept telling me my number isn't supported or whatever. Some other person who has never played OW1 will try the game and they might run into that same problem. Honestly the fact that they even did this made me lose any interest I'd had in playing OW2.

I don't have the energy for game companies that pull this kind of thing, even if they think it's for the best interest of their players. They only removed the requirement for existing players to salvage a player base for this game, because otherwise quite a lot of us couldn't even play it.

"Gamers definitely need to get a life. A real life opens the doors to real opportunities like real money then you can go out and buy.................................. more games of course."

Gaming is fine, But the real reward is making money and using the money on what you really crave in life.

I think SOME gamers do need to get a life and not harass devs about games. The shit is going to come out when it comes out. Focus on other games you can play in the meantime or do something else altogether.

Also. Let's not bash gaming altogher by describing it in a shitty matter.

>Some gamers need a life

Which type do you mean by that? Those flithy children who steal thier mother credit cards with no shame? Or fathers who aren't taking tame to take care of thier sons.

>Harrasing devs

Let's be honest though it's a shitty thing to do, it's not like those people are gonna actually buy a gun ans shoot them for not releasing a game on time.

>Focus on games you can play

Yes. If you can't play it there's always another game.

@masterkiller103:

Yeah but pretty much anyone using the Internet constantly can be capable of thus too. We've seen celebrities get harassed like this too and they've also gotten death threats. The whole internt needs to get a life, I'd say! Too many people find too much time to give folks a hard time.

>Anyone can too

Death threats are most if the time fake and are mostly kids getting mad because they don't get that developing a game is a very difficult thing. When a death threat is actually real it's from psychopaths that need to get help.

The people of who OP speaks are a small fraction of all gamers. I don't think gamers in general need to get a life, but that small percentage of entitled, trouble-making gamers do.
