well i had a ps2 and kingdom hearts 2 and i got as far as unlocking aladdin/tron but i was wondering do i need to play kingdom hearts 1 to understand it more... this was my first tyme with this entire tipe of game, im usually a FPS or gta guy. i did like most of KH2 but i never could really understand what was going on. every 5 mins it was a cut scine with roxxas going "HUH?! WHAT.. WHERE AM I.. WHATS GOING ON?"RonMaverick804
i just read about the story of KH1 on wikipedia before i played KH2, it helped allot
yeh you really need the first one I mean they kinda have flashbacks in the begining of kh2 but it just isn't enough info plus you can get kh1 for like 13$ at almost any game store.
Frankly, yeah. You NEED to play kindom hearts 1. Not just for the story, but it was also one of my favorite games. It's not a challenge to beat. I was sick with mono for a couple weeks so i dusted off a few games. I beat KH1 in 2 day, of course I played like 14 hours a day, but when your at home with mono there isn't much else to do. =P
So yeah give it like a week or two and you'll be pretty far, if not done with it. You will get pulled into that game so badly.
what are the odds KH 3 comes out on PSP, PS2 or 260.. i dont have a ps3 nor do i want one right nowRonMaverick804
I have a gut feeling that the next KH game will be on the PSP, but it might not be KH3 exactly. Perhaps a prequel ala Chains of Olympus.
Well you definatly should not only because it will definately help you understand the story more, but also because in KH you don't only need to press X over and over and over. There is more stratedgy involved.
But i played KH 4 times before playing KH2 so i can't imagine how convoluted the plot must be starting from the second. But those games have my favorite story of any game that i can think of at the moment.
I didn't pass KH1 but still fully enjoyed KH2. There's a huge re-cap of KH1 in the beginning of KH2 that lasts about six hours. It doesn't tell you everything but it tells you at a glance.
Playing KH1 would help, but then again, the whole Kingdom Hearts storyline is whacked out anyway and confusing garble, so I don't think you're missing much.

Meh, it's the gameplay that kept me interested...and the iconic Disney/FF characters.
The story really didn't matter, IMO, but it's the charm of seeing those characters interacting with each other that made the game intriging.
At times I had no idea what the heck was going on, but oh well, as long as seeing Mickey and Donald kicking butt with Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith, I didn't mind.

What you could do, if you don't want to spend time/money on the original is just to read up on the plot on wikipedia. I wouldn't recommend doing so though, Kingdom Hearts 1 was truly an amazing game driven by a great plot. I would on the other hand recommend looking up the plot to Chain Of Memories.
