Do people actually pay the crazy digital prices for games?

Most new games are £50,60+ and it's mental, you always find the boxed copy prices online for £40 and while the retail prices will drop, digital prices never do. Then Sony and Microsoft act like they're giving you deals in sales or if you subscribe... but those sale prices are still more expensive than what they've been knocked down to at retail.

I just don't get it, on Steam the prices for digital always go down like retail, even then you'll be able to go to CD Key websites and get them for even cheaper. I got a gun skin in CS:GO and sold it for £53 and used that to buy games, essentially free games...

But PSN and Xbox Live are so expensive, to make it worse they download so slow that if you buy a game one night, you wont be playing it until tomorrow, while on Steam they download in 10 mins or so. My connection is 350mbps, Steam will go about 40MBps for me and get it done so fast, meanwhile PSN and Xbox Live seem like they download more around 1-3MBps if you're lucky.

Not I, no way I´m going to pay 60 bones for a digital copy of MW3 when I can get it a physical copy for 20 bones. I wait for sales and then it´s when I purchase digital games.

I guess people who claim to be "fully digital" probably do... which is ridiculous.

Yeah, consoles have a lot of problems in terms of digital distribution methods.

I was waiting for Mad Max to go down in price recently and a friend pointed me to an online deal for the game plus DLC for $15. Snatched it right up. I don't think I've paid full retail for a game in a very long time.

But then again, I have nearly 200 games on Steam and more than half are still unplayed. I'm a hoarder. :(

Digital versions of games for consoles are stupidly priced. They have no resale value in comparison to the disc version and they are priced more. Who in their logical mind would buy any of these games digitally at these brain dead prices?

The worst is DLC, which never seems to drop in price.

I mean I thought about buying Rocket League, but then I realized I would have to pay PSN every month to be able to play it... that's why I'll always buy my online games on the PC.

Consoles are so expensive, though Nintendo are really reasonable, their games tend to be less expensive at launch and they do not charge for online.

I buy all new games on disc at retail so I can get the resale value, but sometimes I see good deals on digital like the other day I brought wolfenstein the old blood for $5 on PSN.

I prefer to buy physical because I find it more convenient and I like having a physical product to put in my collection. Still though I see pretty good deals on digital games on Xbox and PSN somewhat regularily these days as well as games being offered for free to service subscribers.

I like the idea of buying digitally and I think it should be the future of buying games. Unfortunately, for now, it makes trading in old game impossible and the prices are usually higher. So its just impractical sometimes.

When buying digital, waiting for sales can be better than buying day one. If I am going to buy an AAA game on launch or near it, I might as well acquire the game in physical form.

i haven't bought a hard copy of a pc game for years, digital all the way, simply because of the price and speed of downloads. it's entirely the opposite for the ps4, digital prices are utterly ridiculous and psn is slow as shit

I very rarely buy a game at full price, whether physical or digital at this point. The last example I can think of was Mario Maker(which is pretty recent admittedly), and there probably won't be another until Persona 5 comes out.

As far as PC gaming goes, I bought the Elder Scrolls Anthology, but besides that, the last physical game I bought was the original Borderlands, which I got at a garage sale for 4 bucks.
