Or do you only purchase what you want?

I am a huge gamer! I love video games and most of the timeI only purchase what I really want and this after reading reviews and gamer impressions and watching gameplay vids but today I wentlooking to pickup a copy of Back Breaker and no stores had acopy and I ended up getting a very cheap copy of Madden NFL 09 and nearly grabbed 3d Dot Game Heroes too.

Actually, if I really think about it, I probably can be quite impulsive once I know something about a game and it sounds good.

So mates, how impulsive are you when buying games?

If the games are cheap, I'll buy them on impluse. I mostly just buy what I want though.

I have my moments, sometimes I just want a new game and I want it now. So I go and get one, made some errors though :( On the other hand, I have gone out and come back with a fist full of second hand ones and found some real gems. :)

Yep. I'm doing a lot of that now. I'm buying Xbox games for about $5 a piece, and it's really hard to stop.

Yeah, I know what you mean. In a very short period of time I bought SSF4, 3D Dot Game Heroes, and maybe 5 or 6 bargain priced psp games. I find that "covering your bases" helps--meaning you get a game that may take a while, a good arcade style pick up and play, a less involved adventure game, and some form of game which makes you think a little--or something to that effect, whatever tickles your fancy.

Depends. I mainly buy games on impulse when I see them for a low price. For example Crash: Mind Over Mutant, The Conduit, and Battlefield 2 I bought on impulse, and only the latter turned out to be a disappointment.

But generally speaking I have a pretty good idea of which games I want.

Yep, I'll buy games on impulse if they're under £10. Most of the time though I don't like them; my last impulse buy was Too Human....I learned from that mistake.

Recently, I picked up FF13 on impulse. So far, I'm not sure if that was wise.

I buy way too many games on impulse. Well, online, I'd probably be more careful. But when I go to stores, I go to buy, so I usually end up taking multiple games home.

It's very rare for me to buy any game on impulse because I generally know which games I want well ahead of time and these days there's so many games that I want that I just spend most of my time and money keeping up with those.

I generally have a one-track mind when it comes to video game purchases, though if something is cheap, I may give in to impulse.

Most of my games are bought on impulse, if it looks/sounds interesting I'll give it a shot for the right price (usually around the $1-$20 range). I always only use cash when going to my local game shops, otherwise I'd go crazy with the spending. :)

Hardly ever. I think the only game I've ever bought on an impulse was Micro Machines on the SNES. 'Twas the mid-90s, I was in a store and saw that it was massively reduced, in fact its price was exactly the amount of birthday money I had left. I hardly knew anything about the game, but I'm glad I bought it because it became one of my favorite games of all-time.

I've got some real gems that I bought on impulse, like TimeSplitters, I never heard of it and saw that it was for sale for like 5$, I still play the game from time to time.

I bought Track Mania DS on Impulse it was $9.99 brand new.

I sometimes buy games on impulse but it isn't really impulse I have 3 games I want and then I pick it up between them.

But trackmania DS was an Impulse I wasn't even planning on buying it I was going for another game but that game was more expensive then I thought so I picked Trackmania DS.

Well, I just bought Red Dead Redemption on Amazon without having rented it first (I can't find a rental anywhere), but I'm pretty sure I'll love the game. Everything the reviews have said has gotten me excited.

Other than that, I don't buy games without having rented them first. Not anymore. I've had too many bad experiences and $30 store credit is not enough for a new game.

When it comes to new games, I'm not impulsive. I try to put some research into games before purchasing them, so I rarely pick a game up right off the shelf without knowing a lot about it. As for used games, I'm more impulsive due to their cheapness.

Unfortunately I do buy games on impulse, usually a mediocre game that I find at a fantastic price. They normally sit in my collection forever because there are just way too many great games these days to ever get around to the mediocre ones.

My wishlist is something like 250 tittles long. If in video game store, I stumble upon a low priced game from that list I buy it in a heart beat. I'm not quite sure if you can call that an impulse buying:P

Last game I bought on impulse: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Ever since I've always done some kind of research before making a purchase.

I am definitely an impulse buyer. If it is cheap and the reviews are good I'll buy it - especially PS2 games cause I worry that someone else will buy it...then I'll have to buy it via eBay for 400% the price.

However that said I usually stick with pre-owned or good sales.

Only if I find a game very very cheap. For example, I found MGS2 for 4.99 about 4 years ago. That one definitely paid off, but I've made some bad decisions before as well.

Usually I watch reviews/research a game before dropping money, but surprisingly most of my impulse buys have been mosty refreshing/happy I did situations. I think research is actually bad for me nowadays, I hate knowing the premise of a story beforehand, or seeing footage of the gameworld and then just seeing it again when I start playing it, instead of getting the full effect

If it's a cheap used game and I don't want anything in particular than yeah sure, why not, I used to do it more often but after I got an Xbox 360 I do my research more often because there are a lot of M games on the 360.

I don't make a habit of it, but I have had my fair share of impulse buys.

Usually I'll impulse buy if I see a really good deal. I'm a sucker for weekend deals on Steam.

If they're cheap, hell yeah. I'll also typically impulse buy at least one interesting looking game while picking up a reserved game, usually.
