I would say I'm above average at FPS, good at action/adventure games (God of War, DMC, etc.) and average at racing.
What about you? You can use more genres if you want. Those 3 were just what I play mostly.

I'm pretty good at FPS (with UT3 anyways), above average on racing, above average on RPG's and average on Platformers.I'm generally very good with strategy games. I'm above average with racers generally, slightly above average with fighters, and merely average with platformers and shooters.
Overall, the game I am the most skilled with would be Crash Team Racing, easily.
I've compiled a list of how good I am at the different genres:
FPS: Above Average
3rd Person Shooters: Above Average
Survival Horror: Above Average
Music Games: Average
Racing Games: Average
Platformers: Average
RPGs: Average/ below average on some
Sport Games: Average
I play games alot, but I never stick to one game for a really long period of time like some people are willing to do. I like me some variety.
FPS'- Give me a bit to get an understanding of the controls, maps, and weapons and I'm a contender. I rarely play Halo 3 anymore, but if I wanted to play a Team Slayer match, I'm sure I could be of assistance. Even more so with Call of Duty. I'm a failure when faced against truly good players though and I have a record of 2-100 est. on Halo's Assault mode (trust me, you don't want me on your team in Assault in Halo. It's not that I play bad, it's that I'm cursed and I'm always stuck on the worst teams.) -- 4/5
Platformers- Some puzzles frustrate me. --2/5
Survival Horror- Camera Angles and controls ruin most survival horror games for me. One exception: Dead Space (which is Awesome). --2/5
Racing- I'm not the best. If I'm in the lead, I get lazy or overly anxious. If I'm behind, I get reckless. Either way, I'm screwed. --2/5
Fighting Games- Xbox 360 controller sucks for fighting games. I can't even beat the lowly SPAM freaks on any fighting game regardless of the controller. --1/5
RPGs, RTS, MMOs, other Strategy type games- I don't play them. --1/5
Puzzle Games- Tetris hates me. --1/5
I'd say I'm fairly slow on the uptake and rarely dip above average in most games.duxupI'd have to say the same for me. I love playing games, but when it comes to competition I'm not all that good. There are some games that everyone said was too easy, but I ended up having a hell of a time with it. If replay the game over and over again I can get pretty good, but I typically don't have the motivation to play a game more than a few times.
I used to be. I got fairly good at FPS's (especially tactical ones) and other games came fairly naturally to me.
Nowadays im too lazy to really play them to my full ability. I just cant concentrate enough and let it all wash over me. Its kinda sad ...
So the answer is NO ... Im quite poor at most things I play. Am utterly sucking at Castlevanie DS at the moment. I just cant dodge things to save my life and im not even that far into it. And I can hardly get a kill in UT3. Was doing well in Warhammer online but only because I spammed DOT's as a bright briz .. which I think has been nerfed now anyway.

I have noticed myself getting better at games over the past year or 2. Why? Well, I do play them a lot more than I used to. I have been playing games on higher difficulties though. I never used to do that in the past unless I really liked the game. FPS's all kind of have the same feel to them to. The aiming may be a little different but it ma only take a few minutes to get used to.
Action adventures I basically just grew up playing, since FPS hadn't started up online much, I spent most of my time on the DMC series and God of War.

If I may, I'm gonna use your list man...
FPS: Average (oddly some days I do much better than others)
3rd Person Shooters: Average.
Survival Horror: Above Average.
Music Games: Above Average.
Racing Games: Average.
Platformers: Average.
RPGs: Really good.
RTS: Really good.
Sport Games: Average
Me? Not really! I'm very good at RPGs, but then I don't think it needs that much skill like an action game, for example, especially if the rpg is in turns.michelle_moraes
they need skills, just not button smashing skills.

^^ I have met my clone.I've dabbled in a large variety of genres so I consider myself pretty good overall. Rhythm games are where I excel at. One game where I like to show off my rhythmic skills is DDR. It took me a while (about 3 months) to master some of the techniques such as taps, crossovers, and galloping, in addition to building my stamina if I want to beat some of the more difficult songs. Some of my preferred songs include Sakura, Max 300, Drop The Bomb, Breakdown, Cartoon Heroes, and Bizzarre Love Triangle.
I'm really good with most RPGs, whether its turn-based, strategy, or real-time based. I always make sure to be properly equipped for battle so that I don't find myself in an undesirable situation. I also have a knack for locating secret items thanks to my careful attention to detail.
I consider myself pretty good with fighters. Not exactly world class but I can certainly hold my own in a battle once I memorize some movesets. I can also learn pretty quickly just by studying other people's playing styles and adapting to them.
I'm pretty average in FPSs. If I'm playing against highly experienced players in a deathmatch, I'd probably be the one with the least amount of kills. I'm not exactly good at aiming and have a notoriously poor sense of direction. On top of that, it gets incredibly annoying when you're traveling through an open area and somebody out of nowhere shoots you from godknowswhere.
Interesting thread. Well, I like to consider myself not too shabby overall. Specifically, I am a little above average with FPS. I used to be out of the loop for a while playing FPS online (even single player at times), so I became very rusty. After starting up again with CS: S and TF2, my skills have been improving. It also depends... if I were to play Tribes 2 online, I'd be horrible as I have to deal with people flying in the air with their jetpacks. For that reason, I think Tribes 2 is the most challenging FPS I ever played.
I consider myself to be very good at RPG's as that is my favorite genre and play it the most. I consider myself good at adventure games as they're not too far off from RPG's.
Strategy games I can definitely work on more. I love them for the required thinking involved, but against other players I will get whooped. I have not played a strategy game multiplayer in many years. I got turned off back when Age of Empires 2 was the strategy game to play as I got sick on tired of players who rushed (I like to take my time to play over trying to win ASAP). As for TBS, I consider myself better than RTS games. I don't play TBS games multiplayer as I simply don't have the time for that. It takes me plenty of time to play against the computer, and sure don't have time for other players.
Hardly, if ever, play racing games, so I am horrid at it. Mario Kart 64 was the last racing game I played on some regular basis. :P
For every other genre, I never play them, so I probably suck at them anyway.
I can't believe all these people think they are average or below. I must be really bad cause I'm usually in the bottom half of the pack in Rainbow Six Vegas.coopteamplayer
A lot of people that play games casually will usually be average to below average at online games due to the people that play them all the time. Sinle player games allow casual gamers to get better at the game because they can play on the appropriate difficulty. Not saying casual gamers are all bad, because their not, but obviously people who spend all their time playing a certain game or genre will be better than someone who just plays them from time to time.
