Just wondering why so many people spend 60 bucks a pop on these games when renting/gamefly is a much cheaper alternative.
Or do a lot of you use this in addition to buying games?
Just curious

I've been considering it. I have the 10 day free trial going currently, but I'm still looking for other options.
There are alot of games that arnt worth buying for me, I'll only play them once and then shelve them. I'd prefer only buying games that I play for a long time for the multiplayer.
I posted this a while back. Maybe GF has changed since I was a subscriber, I don't know......but you should be aware this might be a problem if you do join:
I'm not going to pay a monthly fee to be told that a game I wish to rent has a "short wait". If I am paying for a service, they should live up to what they offer. Most of the games I wished to rent (mostly the new releases) were the same as every joe blow on the planet wanted to rent as well, and more often than not I would end up waiting a few weeks to get the game I wanted.
In the meantime, other games would be sent my way, but not the ones I truly wanted. So if I wanted to keep my name at the top of their reserve list for the newest titles, I would have to remove all the other games from my queue as to prevent them from sending me an alternate game (which would fill up how many I could have at a time) while I waited for the one I really wanted in the first place.
They should have enough inventory to supply demand, and until they do I will not resubscribe.
So it depends. If you're looking to rent older titles that you don't wish to buy, it's a great service. If you're looking to get the newest games soon after their release, you should be aware that you may have to wait a while to get them.
No I don't gamefly, because I think it would be a waste of my money. Also, I would rather own the game than rent it.purple_MAN1832
It really is cheaper. For a fraction of the cost of buying a new game you can play any game for as long as you want. The best part of gamefly IMO is that you can try games that interest you but not enough to pay full price for. And then if you don't like it you can just send it back and try something else.

Rekunta
*bump*
I'll be opening an account as early as New Year's Day. I still plan on buying the obvious long term must-haves like SSBB, but I figure as long as I don't keep anything so long that it defeats the cost benefit (which would be about 5-6 months if I'm only paying $20 for two games at a time), it'll definitely be worth it to try out all the games I'm not sure about, or that I'll probably beat once and never come back to. Plus, I live in CA so getting everything in a timely manner shouldn't be a problem.
Here's hoping it saves me a ridiculous bundle and relieves me of my constant, oppressive boredom.
