I think that indie games dont get as much attention as they should these days. I believe indies have a lot more personality than some big name games.
What do you guys think? Do indie games get too overshadowed by the big guys?

Over the last month ive bought around 20 indie games so I think i care. I am annoyed though about some indie devs enthusiastic pricing. A great example is the soon to be released Nuclear Dawn. The price is 18 euro, which for an unknown devs multiplayer only game is way too much for it to be a success. The same thing happend with Dino D-Day released for 20 euro.
Of course. They don't get higher priority from me like with some people but the games are great for the most part.
I care enough to buy them, so yeah :P I do ^^
Granted, I only really buy the genres I like, just as the bigger companies games :P But I think half my steamlist are Indiegames.
I generally like to support things I can see greatness in :P
Not really sure what Indie means.
Does it have to be published by a company I've never heard of?
Or self-published by the devevelopers?
I'll list some games and you tell me if they're "indie" :
Outpost Kaloki X
Uplink (Introversion software)
Defcon (Introversion software)
I think introversion is "indie" but not sure, they do make awesome games of the type that I really enjoy.

ZombieKiller7
yeah like those. LIMBO, VVVVV, and stuff like that.
... a big thumbs up to all the indie devs from me ... and to Steam for originally getting me into them ;)
I do care about indie games and I think they're very important. In a world of "ME TOO" games and bigbudget blockbustersthese little gems shine just fine:P
I think Indie games can be pretty cool, but most of them I don't like.
I do like Torchlight, Bastion and stuff like that. But the things like Angry Birds, while cool for the first two hours, it's just not fun to play in the long run. If I pay for a game, I want to replay it at some point. Doesn't have to be immediately, but usually, I can replay a game and have just as much fun with it as the first time a year later. I can't do that with most indie games.
No not really. I very rarely ever buy indie games I mainly prefer the big blockbuster games with high production values.Archangel3371And I find it funny that a lot of indie games can have more replay value than most $60 half-finished, day-one-DLC games.
I think recently, Indie games have been covered a lot more. Steam has helped in showing people all of the games. My favourite indie games would probably have to be Jeff Vogul's RPGs. The Geneforge series especially. The graphics may not be great, but I love the story and dialouge.
If we're being honest, I don't care about those little indie puzzlers/platformers/action games. I do think highly of the developers, but I just don't play them. Tripwire Interactive, I believe is still considered independent, is probably my favourite dev, however.
But stuff like Braid, Trine, Plants vs Zombies-- nah. Not even worth the Steam discount prices because I know I'll never get around to playing, let alone installing, them.
I adore indie games. Some of the best experiences I've had this generation have been from indie titles. They're truly astounding stuff. Very glad to see that they've gotten more attention.
I love indie games & care about them equally, if not more so (with some exceptions) than full retail games. Minecraft, Braid, Bastion, Dishwasher: Dead Samurai/Vampire Smile, Terraria, Jamestown, Limbo, Super Meat Boy, Machinarium are just a few of the greats I own.
not at all... i find most of them mediocre compared to full pledged retail games. A lot of them try to be pretentious as well...campzorYou obviously haven't played very many of them, then. There's a plethora of XBLA games that are only $1 with many hours of replay value. Decimation X3, I MAED A GAME WITH ZOMBIES, Score Rush, and Shoot1up instantly come to mind.
A lot of the "big guys" had their start as small indie types. Take id for example. I still remember them with Doom in cheap boxes with the lids hand-taped with a small piece of scotch tape. I had 3 copies of Doom and none of the scotch tape on each box matched. He He. :D
I see indie games divided in two. Some games that don't need so much effort like Machinarium and Limbo (but are amazing games aswell) and then other indies that are as good as some AAA games. In my opinion Dino D-day is a very very underrated game, and Orion: Prelude looks as a game where I will spend a lot of hours. So yes, I care about indie games. I look for indies, when I want a game more casual, but sometimes independent developers surprise me with great games as good as some AAA titles.
Are you trying to >imply that Machinarium and Limbo aren't awesome, taking their low price tags into account? Of course, I could be reading into what you said the wrong way. I'd also implore you to try Hard Corps: Uprising and Bangai-O: Missile Fury.I see indie games divided in two.
