So I was talking to my buddy yesterday about a little game, going by the name of Orcs Must Die! and how much fun it was, and he made a point that he didn't play indie games because he didn't have time for it. My question to you guys is: Do you play Indie games and if not, why ?

If I feel like I'll have fun with a game, I play it. Doesn't matter if it's an indie game or not. I think the problem is that there's quite a number of bad indie games out there which have influenced gamers' opinions about them. Some people would rather play mainstream games that they know are good rather than try to sift through some indie games and pick out the few good ones among them.

Didn't have time for it? They are usually shorter than other games:? I always buy them on XBL. You just gotta be able to weed out the shovelware from the gems and sites/mags help with that.

I play games that are good, so of course I play indie games. Doesn't have time sounds like a ridiculous excuse for not knowing a thing about indie games in general.

What the f*** is an indie game?

And for the record video games are mainstream, so can we quit this underground B.S. I remember when indie use to mean D.I.Y.

I suggest doing a little research before getting on your high horse. Back on topic, yes I play indie games :)

I don't really play a lot of indie games. The only way an indie game really shows up on my radar is if one of two things happens.

1. A friend very strongly recommends one.

2. It shows up in the humble bundle.

On my laptop I almost exclusively play indie games, as it can't handle most modern titles.

On consoles I rarely look at indie titles, but I also rarely get new games in general.

A game developed without the financial backup of a publisher.

I do play them, I've enjoyed some of them more than others. Terraria (good), Braid (meh), Super Meat Boy (good), Audiosurf (horrid) are a few of them.

So, Indie is basically the new D.I.Y. (Do it yourself).

Independent of publisher funded, if a game is good and merits attention, I play it. Before Steam I didn't really understand indie games, but with Steam's help, I play a lot more of them than I used to.

I do, because some of them offer really unique experiences. And at the same time, a lot of them feel indy - small, not terribly interesting ideas without much polish. Or polish in the wrong spots. For every Atom Zombie Smasher or Super Meat Boy there's an And Yet it Moves or Gish to balance it out.

I don't download much off the Playstation store, so not really. Not saying I won't in the future though, a lot of them look like fun. Interested in games like Braid, Trine, and all the others...

Yes I do I play as many as I can I make it a point to play and support indie devs games its where most of the creativity and risk taking in games takes place now adays. That's not to say I don't enjoy big budget games and more mainstream games cause I do.
