I hate buying a pre-owned games in crappy condition. I just look in awe and wonder what people did to the,. I mean, sure accidents happen but some of those scratches and fingerprints I see aren't accidents. Do some people use them as costers or pick locks with them? What's so hard about moving a game from it's box to the console? Before I sold them, my xbox, ps2 and gamecube games looked exactly like they did the day I bought them and I didn't have to take any special precaution to keep them that way. I simply played them and then put them up, it's not that hard.

I take really good care of my games (pc). I collect games, so it is frustrating when I purchase one that is used from say, Ebay...and the seller's description is inaccurate.

I think of it this way, if your going to pay $40-$60 for a game.. your going to take care of it. That's why i put my games in a thick zippable CD holder and lay it in a safe place like on my desk or a bookshelf. If your wondering what I'm meaning by dangerous places is areas like..

Edges (Can Fall Off)

Windows (Can be melted by the Sun)

Tables (Can get Food/Drink spilt onto them)

Yeah definately. It's not really a hard thing to do. I'm careful to keep finger prints off the disc by picking it up and holding it on the edges. When I'm done playing the game it always goes back in it's case and placed back on my shelf with my other games. I also always keep the manuals in the case too. I do read them but I make sure to put them back.

I have never had anything go wrong with any of my console games. From the Snes to the current generation. That I know of all of my games still work. Some PC games of mine have had problems though. A box set of Star Wars games got badly scratched (for stupid packaging), Baldurs Gate and its expansion scratched (more stupid packaging), and somehow one of my Baldurs Gate 2 disks broke in half after I moved, no idea how that happened.

I always take care of all my games. That's why it really pi$$es me off when I buy a used game from gamestop and they put all those damn stickers all over the box. I've seen people just take there games out of the system and just toss it down and put another game in.

I use a rag and rubbing alcohol to remove the stickers. Seriously it works great. Just make sure to remove the paper cover and disc from the box incase any of the rubbing alcohol get in the box.

Of course. I don't understand that people who put their fingers all on them and just toss them around. I mean they only cost $60, right? I guess that's chump change to those people. I don't even like leaving my games out of the case. I spent good money for them, so I want to take good care of them.

Luckily for the GameCrazy in town here, if somebody has a scratched game or disc (or damaged in any way, even finger prints) they end up deducting the price they buy it from the customer for. I think that it's a great way of motivating people to take care of their game discs.

I totally agree with you on this one. I take very good care of all my games and the instruction manuals. Nothing would anger me more than damaging one of my games.

I bought a game from Ebay once and when i took the disc out there was loads of deep scratches on it and the seller wrote "owned" on the it with green permanent marker; imagine my happiness. especially when it was a twenty five pound copy of Chibi Robo on the gamecube. Managed to get a factory sealed copy a few weeks later so at least there was a portion of light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, I take care of my games and all the packaging (except for the shrink wrap of course) well enough, that I have traded in games I have played more than once and the Gamestop employees have commented on the discs looking new.Im the same with DVD's.

Indeed. And don't forget to smell them after you first open the game case up, and do it for every day as much as you want until the smell goes away, because when it does, that factory fresh scent is gone and the paper doesn't feel like new paper anymore. Just paper. You gotta enjoy it while you can.

That's so true. I love the smell of a freshly opened game. Nothing else like it. If only it gave you some kind of non-hurtful high.

Yes. I throw a fit with the slightest scratch. I check the condition of used games everytime I purchase them. But I know that a few scratches won't break a game. But it just feels better when they're smooth and clean.

 I am not as bad, but to be honest, I just take enough of my games, that they re in good enough condition for working on my PC. I dont collection them, nor re-sell them, so I don t really care...I would probably play frisbee as well, but I have no dog... ;)

Actually, I read that the "smell of new paper" is actually quite toxic, which is quite logical since your basically smelling chemicals. However, to be honest, I enjoy the smell as well.

Yea Have you ever looked at the back of a rental CD? Now that is scratched. I think dirt and finger marks are worse for effecting playing than light scratches. Fingerprints and dirt can cause all kinds of playing problems but most commonly frame freeze during games. It pays to "Keep it Clean"

Well I'm like a clean freak when it comes to my xbox games, but apparently my little brother is not. I have a very hard time keeping my games in good condition. Most of my 360 games are scratchless with the exception of a few. I guess since the bro is now getting a little older, he respects my games a little more. But you should see my original xbox games. The coaster thing? Dead on. He would actually use them as coasters and think nothing of it. He lost nearly every case to every game. I would have to pick up a stack of un boxed xbox games, shuffle through the stack to find my game, and just pray to god the game worked. You can imagine how difficult it is for me to keep my 360 games in good condition nowadays.

those damn stickers!!! They use them at BlockBuster I hate that... why do they stick them in the actual game box?.. I mean they could do it in the security boxes they use (the ones with the handle)... That doesn't help me with my OCD problem :x

I usually do. But having two daughters (one of them 4) around means that there are going to be some casualties. Especially among the games that they usually play. I have a couple manuals missing from games like Kameo, Viva Pinata, Super Mario Galaxy and the such.

Yes. I always put the disk back on its case after using nad I never place the case on top of a hard surface, only on beds and sofas. All of the cases of my games are still silky smooth.

reminds me when I was a small kid but who actually kept Nintendo boxes back then when the cartridges were so sturdy?

I always buy new games but if I have to buy a used game then I make sure the case has next to no scratches or such and I make sure the disc isnt too fingerprint-y or scratched.
