If you run straight to the end of the game and skip all the cutscenes, I guess it could be too short. I'm about 9 hours into the game, and I just made it to the really long ladder and the mountain top area. It's all in how you play it I think.

It took me 15 hours to complete the game first time through on normal. I wouldn't consider that to be too short. I do hope MGS4 is longer though, considering it is the last game in the current series.

after you get the stealth camo, you can finish it in around 3-4 hours

It's matter of how you play it really.

If you charge your way through it killing every guard in sight, skip every cut-scene and ignore the Codec, then I think that the game can be unsatisfying in terms of how long it lasts.

If however, you try to get through the whole game without being seen once, and try to find easter eggs then it can last up to well over 20 hours.

I think the length is just right. If you beat it in under six hours, you were obviously rushing.

No its a big game, way bigger than most games. Even without cutscenes its longer than the first two MGS games. MGS3 offers incredible freedom to play as you want, you can spend forever on that game.dvader654

Totally. I spent an hour screwing around in this one area killing everyone. I would hide under this big cabin in the middle of the jungle, I'd hit someone in the leg with the M22 to put them to sleep, and when someone would come along and bend down to check on them, I'd shoot them in the face. I can do crap like that for hours. I especially like sniping. :D

I remember it took around 20 hours to finish the first time I played it. If you want it to last longer play it on European extreme difficulty, it will force you to take it slow.

The helipad area is one of the best playgrounds in gaming history.

Yes! That area is bananas. I caused quite a ruckus when I went through there. I was playing pretty stealthy up to that point, but I couldn't resist jumping on one of the mounted machine guns and tearing that place a new one. I think on my next playthrough I'm going to try for a no kills, no alerts type of deal.

Nope. It was a good length. I don't really see how it could have been any longer really. They could have tacked on a few more sections of jungle I guess. But anything more would just be a blatantly obvious attempt to extend playtime.

Exactly.

I fall into the "charge around killing everthing" section, so it was short for me - but other people I know that did it more stealthy took a lot longer.

I just can't stand stealth games. xD The only stealth games that I can really get into and get through silent are the Hitman games.

6 Hours? That's pretty fast. I managed to clock in double that and I felt it was a good satisfying length.

Did you guys play the same game I played???????????? It took me well over 20 hours the first time through. Maybe even closer to 30. I will never, EVER understand the rush to get through these games and then complaining on message boards about them being short. Never.

You beat it in 6 hours :o it took me about 20 hours on my 1s play through and 10 hours after. Like any good game you don't want it to end but I reckon length-wise MGS3 was fine, not too long or short.

Yeah, first run through took me like 16-18 hours or so and I loved every minute!
