Do You Think Will Skyrim Live up to the Hype?

I do. I think it is the only game being released in the next several months that has a real shot at a perfect 10 on this site.

if it isnt riddled with bugs, but bugs do get fixed with time.

id say yes, skyrim will be the best game ever until the next elder scrolls.

Yes, I belive it will. The last time I really anticipated a game was Mass Effect 2 and that game is amazing.

Most definitely. It's looking incredible. The only thing I expect could fail would be the main storyline. Bethesda can't seem to pull them off in their games, in my opinion.

I honestly don't. I'm sure it will be a great game, but as good as people are hyping it? Doubtful. It will almost certainly have it's fair share of bugs - kind of an issue with Bethesda games.

I thought FO3, FNV, and Oblivion were all great games so yeah, I think Skyrim will be great too.

I think the chances are slim, not that I doubt the game will be good, but the expectations are very high. It has to be 10/10 GOY to meet the expectations and looking at the past history: Fallout, other scrolls... they all came with some bugs or some other weaknesses.

If I had to place my bet I would give 8.5 or 9.0 falling short on story and bugs.

1. Infinite Dragons (Instead of making each and every dragon unique they made them infinite)
2. Combat composed of rubbing your weapon on the enemy till he dies
3. Level scaling... again. Once again, exploration will be completely pointless
4. Removal of Attributes
5. Bland Environments
6. Removal of several skills, I want athletics
7. Dumb Perks (removes all penalties from heavy armor, meaning no disadvantages)
8. One of the worst UIs I have ever seen
9. Dual Wielding spells
10. Mountains serving as walls to remove some of the open world aspect of an open world game.

No, I don't think it will live up to the hype. Though, I wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised.

I think Skyrim will be a massive game for us this year. How often do we get an Elder Scroll game and the last two of them have been amazing. I am looking forward to it the most this year.

I don't think it will live up to the hype.

I'll go with #5. It's WAY overhyped. I've got it pre-ordered and I'm looking forward to an enjoyable, and very long game. But if it turns out to be anything more than "enjoyable" I'll be rather surprised. And I'll definitely be reading the reviews before it comes out. If it's just a half-finished glitch-fest then my pre-order is getting cancelled immediately.

I thought fallout 3 was a really boring game, oblivion was cool though....I still preordered the game because the environements just looked better and more detailed in skyrim and one of the things I liked about oblivion was exploring the world...didnt like fallout since everything was brown and gray and boring.

EDIT: I do think it is overhyped though oblivion was good but not great and the gameplay in skyrim looks to be almost the same (exept for the finishing moves) people are already saying Game of the Year when there will probably a lot more fun games to play like Batman, Zelda.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, including the OP, but I don't think poll-type threads are allowed on the GGD.

That being said, I do think it will live to the hype. But like any game, I just don't want it to be a victim of it either.

I think that, just like Oblivion, it will be a great game once the modders get done with it.

1 for me. I started to play oblivion again a week ago after I watched a skyrim trailer on gamespot. The game will be awesome! Way better than oblivion.

Edit: How did I get with instead of will. I don't think Oblivion is bad, if its modded its pretty good. Morrowind was great, expecially with the Wilderness, Giants, and Dragons mods.

well considering how bad oblivion was compared to morrowind...i can only hope that bethesda listened to their fans and will make skyrim good...but im not gettin my hope up too much...

I am pretty certain I know what I am talking about. After how atrocious both Oblivion and Fallout 3 were, I really have no faith in Bethesda. Furthermore, Todd Howard called CoD4 and RDR rpgs... so yeah.

Nope, I doubt it. The past 3 -5 years developers seems to be using the same recipe, for makeing crap games. I doubt Skyrim is any diferent.

I have books to read, games to play, Hall of Heroes points to obtain, so I have better things to do. I just expressed my opinion once, replied to someone who replied to me and then I reminded someone the hate Oblivion got later on. And now I reply to you.

I cant wait for Skyrim's release actually, but I am not interested much in what Bethesda put out. I am interested to see what the modders will do to the game, like what they did to Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

I certainly think it will live up to the realistic hype at least. I amSUPER excited about this game, you just have to listen to the real hype and not the fake stuff. Like in the case of Halo 3, people were making alot of fake hype about the game and it was simply impossible to live up to that.
