The last time I walked into my local EB was over a year ago, and it looked like the cantina scene from Star Wars.
Never again, I said. Release day delivery+no tax+Amazon Prime= WIN.

Yep.
Plus, when I buy a NEW game from Amazon, it's a NEW game, not some previously opened copy that some pizza eating slob slapped his big old meatslab hands on the disc before putting it in a cardboard sleeve in a drawer before defacing the box with a half dozen impossible-to-remove stickers.
Plus you have to sit in line because someone is constantly trading in a pile of games, which effectively cuts the register staff in half.
Yeah, retail just kind of sucks all around, but Gamestop is especially bad these days.

I can't think of a less accurate and more BS way to describe how Gamestop treats its customers.GalvatronType_R1. I've never had anything but pleasant experiences at Gamestop. 2. Buying used(supposedly their biggest revenue stream) gives you(the player) the power to vote with your wallet while still playing the games you want to play. I approve of the slogan.
I would rather have a used game market than no used game market. That said, yeah it's ironic. Especially when they offer me 50 cents for a used game. I never sell my games at Gamestop anymore.
I have never understood the Gamestop hate, being a powerup rewards member I have actually got some decent stuff with the points I earn by shopping there. If it's something I have to play right this second, Gamestop is the best option to buy game by far.

Since I don't have all night, a few bullet points:
I am a Powerup rewards member because of the benefits and Game Informer, not because I was bullied into it. Pushing these things is apart of their jobs it's not like they are doing it for your personal torment. That used for new thing also can benefit you, once I returned a game I just brought for the full new price just because I was upgrading it to the special addition.

i normally never noticed that but looking back and thinking that motto for gamestop it is actuall really funny
The only problem that I have with Gamestop is I always get hassled when I insist on an unopened product. Not sure why that is. I always buy new and I do not trust that the preopened game has never been used. I understand why they do it (so they can display the case without worrying about the game being stolen) but if the last copy you have is the preopened copy I do not understand why it is such a problem for you to call another location to see if they have an unopened copy.
The consumer always has the power in retail. You can decide whether you want to give the company your money or not.
I avoid Gamestop like the plague.AllicrombieI'm right up there with you. I can't get behind many of their practices as a company. I do understand why they do it but it's just not my thing. Just like Blackley mentioned earlier, Amazon has been worth the price of admission and I'll occasionally do Best Buy or my local Fry's Electronics store for the deals but Gamestop just doesn't provide me with enough incentive to even step inside their stores. Unfortunately, however, I might have to with Xenoblade Chronicles.
