I just find it weird when you invert controls. Does it make it easier for some people to invert? I find it very difficult.

I know a friend or two that do. It makes it a total pain when we are taking turns playing CoD4 online.
When playing on consoles, I do. It's quite annoying as none of my friends use inverted controls so it's annoying when we take turns playing Nazi Zombies or whatever.
On the PC, I use normal, except for flying vehicles.
Yes i use inverted, i can use normal sticks with a controller but much prefer inverted. With a mouse i use normal though.
The way i look at it is if you ram a stick in the back of your head and push that stick down youre going to look up, if you push it up then your going to look down.
I find it a lot easier to make subtle movements and to strafe and shoot while inverted.
I do. It seemed more intuitive when I first started playing console shooters and I haven't gone back. Luckily, every console shooter seems to offer an inverted y-axis if you need it.
I see it exactly the same way! I even invert my controllers on 3rd person games where you can control the camera.Yes i use inverted....

Kids? Usually it's people who have been playing for a while that use inverted, since this is how you'd control flight sims. It makes non-inverted controls impossible for me.I don't see why you kids even invert controls.... what's the point? Is there some advantage?

My brother and I both use inverted controls. I've used them since I was little, so I guess I'm just too used to that scheme now.
always invert for console shooters but don't see why they even add the option for pc shooters unless your using a controller but i don't see why you'd want to on a pc :S
I always use inverted for shooters, both console and pc, I play fine without, but much prefer inverted, it is a taste thing nothing else, I really like when I relax my hands it means that my aim goes up towards head hight, not down towards knee height ^^
It is kinda stupid to think like this tho, because I learned to relax my hands this way because the games I playied in my childhood nearly all were inverted, and I am fairly sure people can relax thier hands and aim just with without inverted.
Inverted all the way - it just feels right. Having to push up on the stick to make my character look up in a FPS is just totally counter-intuitive.
I guess im just too used to playing shooters with normal controls to have to re-teach myself how to do it the opposite way :P
It just seems more difficult, like when you want to slightly nudge the scope up for a headshot you would have to move the stick down, too hard for me haha
i used to invert my controls back when i played timesplitters 2 and 3 but ever since then ive played normal-DirtySanchez-I think that timesplitters is a main cause of why people invert the controls today.
I can't play a shooter without inverting the controls. Pressing up for up and down for down is just crazy talk!!!

funny story regarding that.. the first console shooter I played in years since goldeneye (Im more of a PC guy) was Halo 1 for xbox, the first time me and a friend played it I accidentally inverted my controls durring the opening sequence where you first get out of chryo-stasis and never bothered changing it back. i got used to playing that way and since then always use inverted controls on console shooters. Pc games however i use normal.LokiKTF
Wow. And people think mistakes are a bad thing? Weird.

Then, after a couple of hundred hours with Morrowind, I was never able to play Halo on anything other than default outlay and controls.
I don't invert the y-axis but have several friends that do so. It all boils down to what you're accustomed to and feels more natural, like folding your arms. I'd probably have a hard time with inverted at first if I switched, but after about a week, it would feel completely normal.
I don't. I've played so many different shooter so many different ways that my body will quickly adjust to the default controls.
One of the cool things, for me at least, about gaming for so many years is witnessing the changes with each generation that plays them. When I was younger, almost all of the "dedicated" gamers played with inverted controls. I always thought it still held true, yet I come to these boards and see that, for the most part, the newer generation of gamers think that inverted it crazy. I know there are exceptions, there are exceptions to people from both time frames, I'm just speaking generally.
I still play inverted, it's the only way I can. SH Homecoming was impossible for me:-D
I think that timesplitters is a main cause of why people invert the controls today.spyroiskoolActually, it was the N64 that did it. Super Mario 64, Zelda OoT, Banjo Kazooie, DK64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, etc, all the N64 classics defaulted to the inverted y axis. Granted, most of the people who worked on Timesplitters were the same talent behind Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
