Does XBL or PC online have a lot of immature players with terrible attitudes? I'm wondering this because I mostly play online with PS3.

I'm hoping with PS + being a prerequisite to play online for PS4, it'll screen out some of the bad. Probably eight out of every ten players who have mics sound like kindergarteners compared to adults on PS3.

And while I'm on the subject, does anyone notice any particular region or country where most of the hacking/cheating players seem to come from?

I feel as long as you are dealing with individuals who are behind an anonymous screen or miles away from a person there will always be immaturity. A paywall for online can prevent dupe accounts from popping up which is prevalent in fighting games and FPS. As for hacking and cheating I cannot say for sure because hacking usually comes from a network of people and all of their communications can range in a neighborhood, cities or country to country.

I've read enough horror stories about whiny kids and douchey players on XboxLive and subscription MMO's to be able to say that a paywall is definitely not a deterrent.

You're probably being sarcastic, but you never really know on the net. Anyways, I had XBL for a year and only played Gears 3 and a little bit of Halo 4 online. I encountered a few whiners here and there on XBL, but never the kinds of players like I did on free PSN.

You were able to consistently find a lot of people wearing head-sets on PSN? I've never had that luck unless it was Call of Duty, in which case I would rather nobody talk at all on that game, lol.

Call of Dooty? lawl no. Starhawk. Out of up to 32 players, I'd generally find maybe 10 per game wearing them.

Boy, I wish the Killzone community was more like them. I'd be lucky to find three people on my team wearing a headset. It really suck with that game because Warzone is so team-based. I have found that teams with people talking to each other win more than micless teams.

If you watch the MMO grinder then he makes comment about there being a different between a MMO community for a paywall and F2P. I think he one time said that going F2P is the death of the community.

Me, I play MMO like I play single player games without the chat on.

Who those consoles were marketed to matters more than having a paywall in and of itself. I thought it was a well-known and accepted fact that Xbox Live which has a paywall for online multiplayer was the online community last gen with the reputation of having a foul mouthed community and PSN was the place with a more mature userbase. I have noticed less "gg" messages and more trash talking on PSN lately, but having a microphone and speaking the bad stuff is much worse. Add to that multiple users on a team doing it almost in unison as I have heard on Xbox Live and I still think that marketing of a system and its games affects the userbase more than a paywall in and of itself.

Consider this. Gears of War was the most influential game of the previous console generation. It is an Xbox Live game and an Xbox 360 exclusive. I realize that the PlayStation 3 has a variety of influential exclusive games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2, and Demon Souls. They just were not as influential. The reasons why they were not as influential as Gears of War were because GeoW really focused on the online multiplayer features, yet-unpopularized however great gameplay mechanics were marketed as a new item, and a kind of shock value akin to Army of Darkness. 1080i graphics helped popularize it as well since many were still transitioning from the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube to the previous generation's systems. Those PS3 games I mentioned are outstanding, yet I surmise they did not have the marketing Gears of War had which directly influenced who was playing it.

Now that the PS4 and Xbox One are on the market, the user populations might be changing. It would be nice to have to some actual data in front of me to clarify, but I do not work at research organization currently.

I think people are shit to each other everywhere, but I will say this: the amount of hateful messages I have received when playing on XBL is staggering, compared to the zero hatemail I have received gaming online on PS3. I don't know if that is because it takes longer to send a message on PS3, but there you have it. Interpret this as you will.

One action to keep in mind That human remember the negative action more than the positive. How many games you won do you remember? How many lost do you remember?

The same goes for those that play the game. How many mute player that help you out do you remember? How many negative player do you remember?

I find it hard to believe judgement made by those using their own memory.

This is a common view in the MMO world, that when you require the asshats to have a credit card, there are less asshats. It's hard to say if that's true, because obnoxious people are louder and will make themselves known in any environment. I honestly don't see a difference and think this sort of reasoning is just another attempt to rationalize spending $180 a year on an outdated payment model.

@Ish_basic: I am just saying what I heard. I am not ready to make a real opinion until I get more that just some opinion of people using their memories.

The $180 a year payment model can be worse. It could be the pay $20+ a month to simulate a sub game that F2P mmo have.

lol XBL is notorious for whiny homophobic racist 12 year olds. Paywall doesnt prevent people from being dicks to each other.

I've played PS3 online games for 7 years across 20 different online games and have encountered maybe two douchebags. 90% of the people dont use headsets and play around the team. i think it was mostly because of the high price tag and bluray capabilities of the PS3 that attracted an older audience while all the parents go their kids the cheap $300 arcade Xbox 360. They seemed to have stuck with the Xbox brand because i havent heard them so far on the PS4. Lets hope it stays that way.

Dont get your cheaters comment. Why are you trying to say that only certain ethnicity/nation cheats in online games?

I'm not saying only, just that I've noticed, from my personal experiences online, that a disproportionate amount of hackers/cheaters come from Mexico. They were rampant in every Mario Kart game I've ever played online, and they're everywhere in Starhawk too.

Maybe the negative experiences I've had from playing online with the PS3 isn't the system's user base in general, but just the community of a certain game: Starhawk. That could be due to the fact that it is not policed anymore, and players can run wild with no fear of any actions being taken against them.

The time I've spent with Halo 3, Reach and 4, and Gears 3, and all the Mario Karts, and all the fighting games, I've never encountered any douchebaggery on the same level like I have on Starhawk. Not even close.

nope, every single online service paid or not has terrible users, not to mention xbl which is plagued by immature annoying kids.
