When I buy a game off Steam, I often regret doing that most likely because i didn't get the retail box. Good thing is that it sometimes cheaper and save me a trip to the store. I love the retail boxes because of the manual and I love to smell them(A lot of gamers do that)
Do you guys like retail boxes?

Call me old-fashioned if you like, but I like looking at box art and reading paper game manuals. I collect games and enjoy seeing the physical copies on my shelves.

When given a choice, I will always take hard copies over digital downloads. It gives me something tangible to show for my game collection.

I like the hard copy but as long as its in a safe container for a disc I could care less if its original packaging.

Gotta love box art, plus an impressive game collection just doesnt have the same impact it would if you said, "check out my awesome game collection!" and you pull up steam and a huge list pops up, versus a shelf of hundreds of game boxes that people can drool while looking at.

Yes, I try to get games off retail instead of DLC most of the times. I like having the physical object which I try to keep it in perfect condition.

I prefer retail over digital because with retail I actually own the product. it's in my hands. It's mine. I like that feeling. With digital it's pay to play. In the end, it isn't really yours, you can't just put it somewhere and say, "this is where I put the games!" It's just like, I don't know... that's just how I feel about it. I mean, people playing the game with any avenue they choose is cool, but I feel like I'd rather pay the higher price for actual ownership.

I used to be a digital buyer, but recently My love for art has finally came back, and with it the need to see amazing box art. I used to try and get Collector's Editions of every game that I was interested in graphic wise. I currently only own 5 Collector's Edition games, and i find myself drooling (not literally) over them constantly.

I love digital downloads for good deals (occasionally) and the fact that it is less effort to just plug in some information and download the game. However I, like many people here apparently, love having the retail box and manual in my possession as well. Usually I will try to only download games that are either very rare or it is a deal I just simply can't pass up. There is just something special to me to own all the cases and manuals for the games that I have.

I agree. I forgot to mention this in my post. There is just something so special and satisfying about ripping in on that layer of plastic. :P

I pretty much always need to have a hard copy. The only time I download a game is if I absolutely can't find it anywhere.

I'd much rather own a physical copy of a game rather than a digital own. I actually own it then and can open the case, use the disc and flick through the manual. If I buy something I want to be able to hold it. Can't do that with a digital copy.

Got to have it, it's a must. I enjoy seeing all the games that I have in my collection. Looking at the box art and reading the manual.

The point of buying a game is to play it imo. Being able to stare at a box is very low on the list of what I look for in a game.
