Hey everyone,

I've been going back the old school road recently to rediscover all the lost gems on PSone. The thing is, I only own a PS2 and I've heard some games are not backwards compatible or display some errors while played on the PS2. Does anyone have a list or something.

A couple of PSOne games I'd like to play on my PS2 are the two Oddworld (Exoddus, Oddysee)games, Castlevania:symphony of the night, the three GTA's(1,2 and London) and Capcom Generations2 for my European PS2(The European version)with the three Ghouls'n Ghosts games(which support rumble function unlike the Capcom classics collection on PS2). Are they perfectly emulated on the PS2? Thx in advance.

Grtz, matabaro

I was under the impression that the PS2 was backwards compatible with all PS1 games but I could be wrong.

Most PS1 games are compatible with PS2, but not all. It depends on what model of PS2 you have.

I think you'll be just fine. All PS1 games that I have played are perfectly emulated on the PS2, and I have yet to see or hear about compatability issues. Have fun!

Ok, thx for all the replies guys. Although there are some great next-gen games, there really are plenty of old school gems to appreciate. :D

There's a handful of games that have issues (check G-man's link), but generally PS1 games will work like a dream on PS2. You can even make most of them look better and load faster by tweaking the PlayStation Driver settings, although a few games don't like those settings being changed.

about 99.9 of them! dont worry about it. Unless you got you a 60gb ps3 then its about 100 percent, thats why i love my 60gb ps3 because its awesome backward capability. Shame sony is taking all of it out for good.

go to playstation underground.com they will tell you what ps1 games don't work for each model type ie slim, original

then depending on which version you have you will be able to play any ps1 game with the possiable exceptions as mentioned above.

yes this list is interesting, I only have metal gear special mission, the european disc of the game(I'm pretty sure that the USA has the same problem) need the original metal gear solid disc to be played, but on a ps2 the game never recognizes the metal gear disc so you can't play.

most of the games work better on the original psone, in my case my final fantasy IX has sometimes loading problems on the ps2.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT AND NOT EVERYBODY KNOW IS THAT YOU CAN SAVE ONLY ON A PSONE MEMORY CARD you can transfer the data to a ps2 memory card but this only helps you having more savegames having only one psone memory

That's the list I was thinking of. There's not a lot on that list that really should make anyone angry.
