Quick question about playing imported games on a North American Dreamcast. I've heard that you can use a Gameshark CDX, Cheats N' Codes Vol. 1 and a DC-X to play imported games without a problem. Can anyone verify this? I've been thinking of picking up the Cheats N' Codes Vol. 1 because it's the cheapest, but I don't want to get it if it won't work. Thanks.
i don't know anything about those. but i have a free program i found online that you just burn to a cd-r that allows you to play imports. i'll try to get back to you with a link.

Same... but i never really needed to use it :P I think it was called Something "topia" :S
i can verify for you that a 'Gameshark Lite' will boot most japan import DC games on a US DC successfully. I actually just bought one recently and a copy of Ikaruga for my DC, and it boots it up for me fine. And it only cost about 8 bucks, and its a working gameshark as well, so thats always cool to have...
I can verify it, as I have an American DC and I use either my Gameshark or DC-X to play a variety of games. I have mostly fighting imports like SSFT2X and Vampire Chronicles. The Cheats and Codes works, too. The Gameshark is awesome because if you want to use codes, you can as well as the boot disc function.
I just did a huge section in my gaming newsletter about the DC and importing and what you need to do it. It's really simple, though, like importing on the PS2. Check out my newsletter online after April 1, and you'll see what I mean.
