I bought a SNES off of ebay and when I revieved it today it was broken. I think the seller knew it was broken. There is no damage to the box it came in and no damage to the system itself. When I turn it on the games don't display properly. The games appear to be choppy and pixilated.

Anyone know what kind of recource I can take against the seller?

2 things:

  1. I don't know exactly what the problem is, but it may just be the wires. Check them, or try some new ones.
  2. File a dispute both on paypal (assuming you paid that way) and on eBay its self.

But first, try and contact the seller to see if they are willing to work with you.

I already tried 2 different cables s-video and the one that came with it.

I tried contacting the seller and he won't reply.

I'm gonna try to dispute it with paypal and ebay.

Ya, if the video is still messed up with the cables he provided then it was probably broken when he sold it, and he probably knew it was broken too...

Before you file a dispute, maybe try on another TV first...and if you already have, or don't have another TV, make sure you mention that you have tried with a couple different cables and TV sets, and be sure to mention that he isn't getting back to you...but maybe wait until tomorrow, if you bought it from America or Canada then it's a long weekend, could be the reason why there's no reply.

and don't worry, you'll win the dispute, buyer always does.

Make sure it's not due to a bad cartridge.

There may be number of factors, but it's best to try to communicate with the seller and see if they have any input. I see you already tried to contact them, so if they don't respond in a reasonable amount of time, you're going to have to do as someone mentioned and file a dispute through eBay. It might take a while, but you should get your money back. Also, what's this person's feedback like? If it's low and/or has a decent number of non-positives, you should try to avoid.

I filed a dispute with pay pal. He has a 100% reputation but not a lot of sales. In the dispute I asked for a refund. I also sent him a email asking for one. I have until the jul 22 to take the dispute further. I'm gonna give him a oppertunity to refund it before I do anything.

I buy a lot of stuff off of Ebay. This is the first time I've had a problem. I've spent a couple $thousand on video games off of ebay.

Take the dispute all the way asap and get your money back. The seller knew what he / she was shipping before you paid for it. I've had a few disputes on ebay as a buyer and never had a problem getting a refund. If the seller asks you to cancel transaction, decline until their is money in yur paypal.
