Do you guys think we need a completely new engine for ES V instead of just revamping it, similarly how we got Fallout 3 from Oblivion. I mean this engine is showing its age with poor animations, character models and very very static animations. What do you guys think will be the case for ES V, new engine or revamped.

If they could take an engine like the one in GTA 4, the next elder scrolls would instantly get better. If I shoot a bandit in the leg, I'd really like to see him stumble realistically.

I agree that the current engine looks dated.

I would love physics like Source (Valve games)or Euphoria (GTAIV, SW:Battlefront), but it may be hard to make such a huge and filled world with it.

No, because with new addition to series, there is usally graphical improvements. Even fallout 3 has better animation than Oblivion. Engine =/= Full Graphical Potential.

Bethesda is probably already at work on the new engine. Never fear.

Chances are they will use the same engine, but upgraded and more refined so there will be less bugs and slightly better graphics and physics, but with an engine like that there will always be physics glitches. For god sake they had best not use GTA4 engine, they had best stay as far away from that game as possible. Bethesda works are making a new game at the moment so Elders Scrolls 5 won't be coming too soon, they are making a game called rogue warrior supposedly you can probably find it on Bethesda's site.

To tell you the truth, the engine always looked dated to me, even before the games came out. I don't understand why everyone goes on about the graphics, it looks real muddy to me with bad lighting and bump mapping.

CryEngine 2. PC only. I'd be one happy dude.

Every time I chug around in the forest in Cyrodiil I think to myself, "this would look amazing in CE2."

I agree that the GTA IV engine probably would work pretty good for Elder Scrolls V

Come to think of it, besides the fact that it's a fantastic RPG... it has one AWFUL physics engine.

I think it could make good use of the GTA IV one, yeah.

What's the alternative? I think they just need to refine it.

They don't have to change the entire game, just refine the mechanics a bit It will take some time because these games are large and complex.

There are way bigger fish to fry than the graphics engine. Fix the game design first.

they should use a form of Cry engine (mass Physics FTW!) but i could care less if they even change the engine (as long as they make peoples faces not look like playdoh) but rather focused on making the game have more choice and consequence to your actions (make the game into a REAL RPG rather than a static world for you to kill stuff in.
