http://www.destructoid.com/looks-like-epic-mickey-2-may-be-in-development-210015.phtml

According to an anonymous Dtoid reader, Epic Mickey 2 is currently being gauged by Disney via online marketing. There are a lot of specifics here, which is always nice. That doesn't mean that the game is definitely going to happen, but it sure looks like the development of Epic Mickey 2 has gone well beyond the "purely theoretical" stages. There are several potential box arts here, as well as some of the titles being considered for the game (including Epic Mickey 2: Return of the Mad Doctor, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Epic Mickey 2: Mystery on Mean Street, and just Epic Mickey 2).

The game is reportedly planned for release on the Wii, the PS3, and the 360. Gameplay details include the option to play 2-player split screen with Mickey Mouse (back with his paint and thinner mechanics from the first game) or his older brother Oswald The Lucky Rabbit (who can "fly like a helicopter" and use electricity to "fight or friend" foes).

It might have sold pretty well, but Epic Mickey was still a better game in theory than it was in practice. I have high hopes that Disney and Junction Point will be able to do better the second time around. Also, that split-screen mechanic sounds like it would be perfect for the Wii U and the PS3 + PS Vita set ups. Lets hope that functionality makes its way into the final game, if and when it's ever officially announced.

That would be interesting, but what would the concept be for the second one?

Because why not? They haven't got anything to lose by releasing it on both. If anything that would just ensure that they'll be able to profit off one of those versions.

Are you suggesting that now the Wii U is coming out, developers should abandon the Wii and its ~90million users?

They already did.

Did they? Did they really?

Yes, they did. Not a lot of people bought these third-party games on the Wii, but on other systems instead, and they also strictly bought Nintendo products and games. The Wii lacked sufficent third-party development to continue on...that's why the Wii is dying rapildy and that's why Nintendo is re-focusing its efforts on the Wii U and it seems like third-party developers are a lot more interested in that system than the Wii right now.

The game has a lot of improving to do to get anywhere north of merely ok. The original is pretty terrible and features some of the worst platforming and camera work this generation.

Bleh. Terrible in theory and even worst than you thought possible in practice. Mickey Mouse is a really unappealing character/topic for me, I suspect the large portion of Gen Xers/Yers feel that way. I admire Spector for trying to faithfully recreate something he holds dear to him though.

I enjoyed the first game, but there was so much wrong with it that I couldn't give it the score I wanted to. If they are making a second game, I pray they fix everything that was wrong about the first.

Make a decent game this time and I'll be interested, didn't really enjoy the first.

One of the more common complaints that everyone had for Epic Mickey was the camera. Was the camera really that bad in the game?

I'd be interested in playing a sequel, but only if they made some major improvements.
