Evo 2014 is upon us

Yes fellow fighting game fans. Evolution 2014 tournament starts July 11, 2014.

There will be many many entrants such as Ultra Street Fighter 4, The King Of Fighters 13, Injustice, Smash Bros Melee and more.

Nintendo has even join the list of sponsors for Evo this year, after attempting to pull Melee from last years event.

The King Of Fighters won best of show at Evo for 2 years in a row (2012, 2013). Will they secure it again or will another fighter take the crown this year?

One of the entrants is the well known fighter, Street Fighter 4. This year Ultra Street Fighter 4 will be the version they use.

This game will obviously be a favorite of everyone. Who will take the crown?

Another Entrant is The King Of Fighters 13.

This game obviously gets my vote but with bias because I've always been a SNK fan from the early days of Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury/Garou.

This game franchise has gained a ton of popularity over the last few years and has become a staple of 2D fighters. From the EX Specials to the HD Combos, this game is surely going to bring the hype this year.

I also hear some fans were holding an event to get some player named Guts to this years Evo. He's supposedly really good so this event just gets better and better.

This will definitely be a great year for Evo.

Many other top fighters and fighting games are most likely going to be there from Bala to Chris G. and more.

Personally I like DoA more than Injustice but I like Virtua Fighter more than both of them

I recently tried the Virtua Fighter Showdown demo and damn that game is extensive, theres just so many things to learn.

All I care about is MKX announcements, I can't wait for the 12th!

Yep I love KOF and VF's Technical depth. Those 2 games are the peaks of their genres 2D and 3D.

I wouldve bought it if I didn't already own Dead or Alive 5, damn I love that Hold Mechanic.

Yeah virtually everything is great in VF5.

Why not get it anyway? Me and some friends have open party rooms all the time where we train play and learn more game mechanics often. It's $15 for the game lol The other $30 is outfits basically. Every now and then though we find a hitbox error that is usually hilarious, we're all like, there is no way that should have hit you Lol

I believe a new iteration may be coming out soon so it may be for the best to wait.

I was actually saving the last $17 in my account to purchase Rayman Origins, plus Microsoft is having an ultimate game sale this week and I might snatch one game, I already got the $16.99 Devil May Cry 4 for only $4, I hope to God Rayman Legends gets discount 75% too. But its highly unlikey.

I really like the Mobilty and Zoning options of VF but I'm worried about being defensless once a combo has already begun, And thats why I opted for DoA 1st.

Good deals you got and smart decision to wait. It most likely will go on sale soon.

You're actually more defenseless in DoA than VF once a combo is started however the counter mechanic helps you recover a bit in DoA if timed right. VF usually has if crippled or charge hit blocked, you can manuever the analog to recover quickly.

Nice topic, and i like small presentation you made. I will watch EVO 14 on stream, gonna prepare some snacks and drinks, its gonna be awesome. I will follow USFIV, hope Sako wins this year! :)

I can't wait. I plan on grabbing a 12-pack variety case of Sam Adams or New Belgium and locking myself inside for pretty much the entire weekend. It would be really great if there was a gaming sports bar I could go to and watch the Sunday finals matches. There are some bougie martini bar type places with the type of retro games some 17-year who doesn't even know what a NES is would wear a shirt of but I know they won't be streaming it.

Game of show for me will probably be Marvel but I plan on watching Smash and USF4 as well, although I'm on the east coast and am getting old so I'll probably fall asleep during Street Fighter and end up having to download some YouTube rip of the finals to watch during my commute the following week.

Lol you're on the East Coast like me. You're never too old to game. Oh really? I'm expecting some insane matches from Marvel this year as well. I just hope we get some more character variety this time from all the fighting games this year. I was glad to see Gen take Evo last year.

I know it will be shown, i've been following it for awhile just so I don't miss it. The announcement is tomorrow, 3pm my time.

I've been watching a lot of this on Twitch and it's been pretty damn awesome. Just finished watching Galileo's amazing comeback win in Blazblue.

Watching Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 high level play is amazing. Just finished watching Justin Wong take the championship. Some amazing games with F. Champ and Chris G. Time for Ultimate Street Fighter 4.
