@bussinrounds: Yeah I admit anticipation and excitement got the better of me as it had been 5 years since a Fallout game came out and that announcement in the summer as well as Bethesda's amazing E3 showing really got me going. I never once thought that they would dumb it down like they did with Skyrim coming from Oblivion. I just kept watching that E3 demo and kept thinking "Holy Shit! The gunplay looks amazing! The movement is better now that you can sprint! The graphics are better! It's voiced!", but I never once thought they were going to sacrifice the key elements of the Fallout RPG formula (dialogue, karma system, and unique quests/multiple outcomes) in order for this game to happen. I thought all that time that they were working on the game would have them make it on the level of The Witcher 3 or above it, but yes, I looked like an idiot after playing through a good chunk of it. They fooled me by doing this with Skyrim back in 2011 and now they fooled me again. I feel kind of stupid, but I got my dollar per hour worth of the game so at least I didn't waste my money and just play a couple hours of it.
And that's not to say it is a TERRIBLE game, but it's just not a good Fallout game. That isn't me trying to justify what they did to the game to make it so one-dimensional, but I really don't want to trade the game in or sell it off. I will still play it, but other games like The Witcher 3 or DOOM have clearly had studios care so much that they made quality attention to everything big and small in their respective games the biggest factor in the selling point. But yes, looking at it on the other hand, that means the last good Fallout game was New Vegas, which was 6 years ago. Putting it like that sounds fucking awful, but I'll still play it just like I do with 3 from 2008. Hell, I put in another 117 hours into Oblivion last year alone because of how much I love that old gem and it reminded me of my high school days putting in hundreds of hours into it and just becoming lost in its world.
Yeah, I think I lost the point of this rant, but all in all, I admit I fell for the old new-coat-of-paint trick that Bethesda pulled with Skyrim.
