Just thought I'd let the good people here on Gamespot know that for the next 48 hours GOG.com are giving the original Fallout away for free, all you need to do, if you haven't already, is make an account and add it to your collection.

Is it easier to get into than Fallout 3?Dracula68
I found the two first Fallouts to be significantly better than the third. The NPCs and cities just felt more real, and I disliked the way they implemented a half-VATS/half real-time mechanism in the third. The setting just feels much more fleshed out.

Thanks, I may as well go try it then. I would hope my crappy PC could handle a 15 year old game.Is it easier to get into than Fallout 3?Dracula68Hell no, it's like playing with an excel spreadsheet, but it's still a great game :P
Hell no, it's like playing with an excel spreadsheet, but it's still a great game :P Well the other 7 free games should make up for it if it sucks. Yeah, although most of those games have already been freeware for years. Those naught Gog fibbers.[QUOTE="Black_Knight_00"][QUOTE="Dracula68"]Is it easier to get into than Fallout 3?Dracula68
Damn, I just bought it from GoG a few months back. If only I knew lol :PAcidSoldner
Ask if they will give you a refund then :P
For anyone wondering if they can run the game the minimum system requirements are: Windows XP or Vista, 1 GHz Processor (1.4 GHz recommended), 256MB RAM (512MB recommended), 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX7 (compatible with DirectX9 recommended), Mouse and Keyboard.
If you can't run it then you seriously need to upgrade :P
I'm suprised my laptop can actually run this. I just started, but I can't really get into it until this weekend.

Maybe but I never had them.
Definitely play Beneath a Steel Sky, you'll love it. You can skip Lure of the TemptressDefinitely play Beneath a Steel Sky, you'll love it. You can skip Lure of the TemptressBlack_Knight_00Thanks!
[QUOTE="Dracula68"]Is it easier to get into than Fallout 3?chilly-chillHow could you not get into Fallout 3? Not sure. I tried 3 different times but if an RPG does not hook me in and make me want to keep playing I give up. Vesperia is another I could not get into at all. Maybe after I play the original I will have better luck with 3.
Good luck to everyone playing this for the first time, this game is hard as balls. I honestly didn't like the first one near as much as the second just because of the time limit thing, I hated that so much. I highly, highly, highly recommend the second game though, it is a masterpiece.GodModeEnabled
How long is that time limit?
Even if you aren't a fan of Fallout, it is worth starting at least a new account at GOG. As a starting pack, you get 7 games for free :
Beneath a Steel Sky
Ultima IV
Teenagent
Lair of the Temptress
Dragonsphere
Treasure Adventure Game
Tyrian 2000
Yes, most of them are freeware titles, but I've never heard of most of the games on that list (other than Ultima of course).
Finished downloading Teenagent, and am now almost done with the download for Beneath a Steel Sky :)

It's so many days in game, I can't remember exactly. 100 days maybe? Just travelling around eats that. There is quite a bit of game and not enough time to go everywheres so it's very much a replay again and again kind of thing, where as part two was really just a better game, huge epic story and world to explore without the annoyance. You still may like though, so I mean it's free so why not.[QUOTE="c_rake"][QUOTE="GodModeEnabled"]Good luck to everyone playing this for the first time, this game is hard as balls. You get 150 in game days... good thing it was free.
It's a good game but I hate the time limit, I might just be done with it and get Fallout 2.
Yeah, the time limit completely ruins the game :( Too bad because many years ago I bought it and liked it until I found out the clock was ticking.Black_Knight_00Another reason MM was my most despised Zelda game. Time limits where you feels rushed ruin the game for me.

I just avoid any games with time constraints mainly because I do not just get a game to blow through them as fast as I can.

While trying to avoid spoliers, the time limit only applies to less than 50% of the game, once you complete the first mission, you can spend as much time as you want in the game world. Please Log In to post.
