Uwe Boll Watch: Far Cry Movie to Start Filming
By Philip Kollar, 05/09/2007
"They still manage to cheese up the already pointless, nonsensical, often confusing storyline complete with anti-climatic, inexplicable ending." That's an out-of-context excerpt from 1UP's review (9.0) of Far Cry, the great shooter with a pretty mediocre story. You think that's enough to stop video game movie adaptation director extraordinaire Uwe Boll from a big screen version of Far Cry? You crazy idealist, you!
Gamer Flicks points out that filming for Boll's latest begins June 20, with plans to wrap August 28. Unbelievably, this is Boll's seventh video-game-to-film adaptation. Furthermore, the movie will not be filmed in a tropical setting like the one in...well, Far Cry the game.
As with five of Uwe's six previous films, Far Cry will be shot in Vancouver, Canada. This probably isn't as absurd as it sounds at first, as Vancouver does contain some dense coastal rainforests (pictured), but it's probably not quite as apt for the source material as a Hawaii-like locale.
