Hey, I wanted to know what everyone's favorite 2D Castlevania game was.
My favorite is probably Harmony of Dissonance for the GBA. It is addictive and draws me in.
After that, it would be Circle of the Moon for GBA. That one's pretty sweet.

Dawn of Sorrow was incredibly addicting and fun. I only wish it didn't take so much time to collect souls. I spent an hour killing the same enemy over and over again each time hoping the bright little blue circle would fly out, one hour, when I finally got the soul I didn't even care anymore. I felt hollow over the misery I just forced on myself.
But DoS was still a pretty kickass game.

The Very Best 2D Castlevania game is CASTLEVANIA : SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT.
While, I do own every single Castlevania ever released in the world, Castlevania :SOTN stands tall above all others. It is the reason why HoD and CotM were so darn good, but those games were shorter and lacked the extras in SOTN.
Have a good day!
You should have bought the Soul Stealer item from Hammer. It's expensive but at least you would have gotten souls faster. BTW mine is Dawn of Sorrow.;)Dawn of Sorrow was incredibly addicting and fun. i playedsome of them, castlevania, simon's quest, super castlevania iv, dracula xand finally symphony of the night but simply is no contest. sotn beats them easily in every way.
The family com one was my fave, although I actually never played it. I used to cheer my big brother on while he tackled on the bosses. It blew my little kiddie mind away with the fact that you could buy stuff from shops and whip zombies and skeletons. It's really only my favorite because there are so many childhood memories attached to it. Gameplay and storyline wise? Compared to the newer ones out there? It'd get a Meh...:P
Circle of the Moon was my first, and favorite.

yes! I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thinks circle of the moon is the best! I'd have to say that order of ecclesia comes in a close 2nd, and dawn of sorrow 3rd.
I've only really beaten/liked the gba+nds castlevanias.
Aria of Sorrow on GBA
Dracula X chronicles, never played softn before and it's my favourite castlevania of the ones I played.
Pc-Engine CD version looks awesome, supposed to be as good or better than Symphony of the Night. Think it is called Dracula X: Chi no Rondo? Symphony of the Night is the direct sequel to it, and Richter even looks the same.covertgamer78Dracula X is by much the best of the 'core' Akumajou Dracula games, however Nocturne in the Moonlight managed to surpass it with ease in pretty much every aspect. Although that was to be expected, as it was released 4 years later from the original Dracula X.
And Ritcher shouldn't had looked the same... (with the exception of the prologue of course) that was just clear laziness from the devs. Same with the rehashing of several enemy sprites.
Ritcher does look different (like in his actual portrait) in the Saturn version though.
