Since arcades are pretty much dead now, I think back to the glory days of the local Arcade shops in town. I am talking about the late 80's to mid 90's. Back when you would see games that were technologically much more advanced then your NES, SNES, and Genesis. Walking around the entire arcade scoping out which games you would sink your precious limited supply of quarters into. Do I play the older games for .25 or do I sink .50 into the new Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 2, and Driving USA games?

I know most of us were able to experience the Arcades in their glory days, and now I ask which game did you enjoy the most? Also, how much money did you blow on one game throughout the years? I would say the most amount of money I spent was probably $150 on the Basketball Shoot game. Don't know if that qualifies for an "Arcade" game, but the runner up would be Street Fighter 2 with $60.00 (since one game would cost .50 to play).

I beat Final Fight One in the arcade and that is my favorite memory. However I spent lots of time on Hydro Thunder, Mortal Kombat Ultimate 3.

I have just too many to pick just one.

I was really mainly an Arcade gamer in the 80's and until the mid/late 90's. I've played them more than my console systems.

I actually have two arcade cabinets and a custom Jamma board monitor set up in my room.

I love the Simpsons and X-Men side-scrolling beat 'em up. Great to play with friends. I also played a lot of Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA, and Time Crisis. That goddam Simpsons game is my favorite though. I don't think it ever made it to consoles though. Its a shame, I'd buy it if it were on PSN.

I only got some real arcade time whenever we went on vacation lol. I undoubtedly blew the most time and money on the Simpsons game. I beat it twice on separate occasions lol.

I can't remember its name, but it was a game where you had shooting reticles (not a gun game) and you had to make your way across the Old West. I remember wasting many a quarter on that game.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park. One of my favorite games. The surround sound and intense gameplay kept me at the edge of my seat every time I played it.

I'd say the arcade game i enjoyed the most was Final Fight. I used to play that game ALL the time. A close 2nd would be Xmen or TMNT.

Definitely the x-men arcade game. 6 player co-op on a dual screen was just unheard of before that game. Hell, I can't even remember another 6-player co-op beatemup.

Oh god... I have too many to pick just one...

I pretty much love every capcom arcade game there was... especially fighting games. Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter comes to mind for a top place.

Konami´s TMNT and Sunset Riders where actually really good games as well.

My top 2 games of all time, in any environment, are arcade games.

Neither is any more a favorite than the other, since I played them both at the same time and place (around 1987 at a bowling alley that is no longer around).

One is Black Tiger, the other is Commando, both made by Capcom in the 80's.

Those 2 games were my favorite games then, and they still sit at the top of any favorite game list I post on here. (not involving a specific system/console).

I'm hoping Black Tiger can get some kind of sequel/remake/remix like a lot of Capcom games received within the last 2 years. Commando got a new sequel on XBLA and PSN - Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, along with updates to Ghosts and Goblins and Mega Man on PSP, Mega Man 9 on all 3 of the current consoles, 1942, Bionic Commando got "rearmed" along with a 3d sequel coming this year, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo got an HD remix.

Based totally on the amount of money I put into this machine over the years, it would have to be Star Wars Arcade. I have also played Top Skater, House of the Dead, and LA. Machineguns more times then I can count.

Yooo GREAT TOPIC. I used to love the TMNT arcade game. Spy Hunter was great. The Avengers game was good as well. After Burner was unmatched for the arcade experience. Can't sleep on Mortal Kombat II. But fave of all time has to be Street Fighter II.

I think the one that really started me off in loving arcade games was the old 80's Star Wars game by atari I believe. Just hearing Old Ben saying "Remember, The Force with be with you always!" just blew my mind, and hearing the theme music from the movie. I was about 6 or 7 at the time and I fell in love with the arcade from that moment on. I would love to own that machine in the future, but don't know if I'll find one in good enough shape from almost 30 years ago.

The game I wish I could play but never did was the "Aliens" side scrolling shooter that you could be Ripley, or two other Marines. I saw it in Edmonton, Canada when I was 15 but never saw it in the states ever again. Anyone know what i am talking about or have you seen it around still?

I was more of a pinball person myself. I must have put $1000's into those games over the years. For me, the #1 machine I have played is Pin*Bot, although that is closely rivaled by Twilight Zone. I did play quite a bit of Pac-Man though, but no where near the amount of pinball I played.
