The Halo trilogy master piece is my number 1 for sure, the kind of quality that its rarely seen these days :/ But yeah the Crash (originals + twinsanity) and Bio-shock games are defiantly great! I'd also say that the INFAMOUS trilogy is also really, really good! wish I could say the same thing about Uncharted where it not for that stupid third game.
@Lulu_Lulu: I'm only mentioning the original 3 games that form a certain story arc. You wouldn't think to know that because you don't care about plot in games ;)
Gears of War is a continuing storyline. Judgement was a prequel, not a constant series of events like Gears 1-3 were. And the 3 BioShock games are thematically connected, as well as having story connections through the Burial at Sea DLC, which I count as part of BioShock Infinite.
@mastermetal777
And you don't see any thing wrong with that ?
Isn't Halo 4 and Gears Judgement more than just Thematically Connected to the Original Trilogy ? Yet they didn't make the cut like Infinite did despite being an even Larger Deviation from its source than GOW and Halo are.
I'm not being rude on purpose or anything but it seems like you just rounded off whatever franchise you wanted up/down to 3 just to call it a Trilogy.
@Lulu_Lulu: Halo 4 was the beginning of a new storyline, so no, I don't count it as a part of the original games in terms of story. Gears of War Judgement was a prequel set much further back than the events established in the main series.
As for BioShock, the games tied together well in both their theme and overall setup. And Burial at Sea tied up most of the loose ends.
As for the Batman games, Origins was made by a different studio than Rocksteady, and even they said they won't consider it when making Arkham Knight
@mastermetal777
Bioshock 2 was also made by a different Studio and was the beginning of a new storyline, it didn't even have any of the previous Characters from the 1st game other than Tenebaum and Bioshock Infinite was even worse, its inclusion of literally anything from the Previous games was just fanservice, no seriously, it didn't even connect until literally at the very at the "sea of doors" and even then it was just a facade. As for the DLC I haven't played that yet, but I'm pretty sure its way more disconnected both Thematically and Mechanically from Bioshock than Judgment, Halo 4, Ascension, Origins are from their original games. Your Trilogies have absolutely zero internal or external consistancy and Logic atleast thats the case regarding the above mentioned games. Infact the only "Trilogy" thats warping your list is Bioshock, you can literally solve the issues with Halo, Gears, Batman and God Of War if you had just left out Bioshock.
@Lulu_Lulu: you haven't played the DLC, so you can't even say. It does a wonderful job connecting the games together, and plays like a combination of Infinite's tight mechanics and fast pace and BioShock's grim atmosphere and on-the-fly planning for unpredictable enemies. Don't judge a game before playing. Makes you look the fool.
And BioShock 2 was made by 2K, which was the secondary developer for the original games. It was an extension of the themes, gameplay, and world. And Infinite had the same themes and tighter gameplay, and a different setting but with a familiar premise. Fan service would be the same damn game as the original game but with emphasis on the parts that fans loved, which doesn't even happen in Infinite. Just mere mentions here and there.
@mastermetal777
Excusing me for not buying into the idea you can "Trilogize" a franchise by literally Patching in Themes from the original and selling it as an optional Add On... I'm not saying you're wrong... I'm saying look it at from my perspective, also FYI Gears of Judgement has a special mission that takes place Simultaneously with the events of the Final Act of Gears Of War 3.... With the same damn Characters, same themes, same plot, which was extended in a far much stronger way than Burial At Sea is ! That mission ties it to Gears of War 3.... And the best part is you don't even have to pay for it seperately. Its not last minute attempt to connect ideas together like Burial at Sea was.
Anyway even going by your Logic 343 Industries is to Bungie what Irrational Games is to 2K Marin, Different Studios, but obviously your going to shove in your "They are not Subsideries of a large Company" Clause then I'l point you towards People Can Fly and WB Montreal.
You're Excluding Prequels despite having an even stronger resemblence to their sources than Bioshock Infintite does to Bioshock.... Going by your logic for Bioshock then Prequels Qualify as part of the Chronology even more... not less. Making Gears a Quadrilogy and Halo something even more when you include Reach and so forth.
@faizanhd: Plenty of people love the Mass Effect games, myself included. Sorry if I offended you by including it in my poll.
Out of the ones you listed, I voted for God of War, but the best trilogy is really the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy on SNES.
Mass Effect ? Seriously ? What are you guys taking these days ?
Pickled tastelessness ?
I know right? It's like diverse people have many varied and different opinions on the exact same experience. World gone mad man!
My favorite trilogy is Shenmue.
I believe.
-Pikmin
-Metroid Prime
I'm not into many other trilogies. The Sly trilogy isn't too bad. I've played Bioshock and Bioshock infinite, but couldn't bring myself to finish either. I've played the God of War trilogy and loved the first game, however, I found the 2nd and 3rd incredibly unnecessary.
