Mine would definitely have to be the 32/64 bit generation. So many awesome titles that we still have today were first introduced in this gen. Not only that but games such as Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, and Mario were reinvented during this period. I could be wrong about this, but it seems as though this generation had the highest volume of amazing games then any other. But yeah, that is why my vote goes to this period that I fondly look back onto withnostalgia. How about you?

Easily the 16-bit era. IMO, nothing comes close. We had four amazing consoles: The SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, Turbographx, and Neo Geo. Then there were two CD-ROM add-ons for the Genesis and Turbographx, both of which had their share of great games. I don't think we'll ever see another gaming generation that comes close the 16-bit era.

Same here. The 16 bit era seemed lacking to me in certain ways. IDK, I just can't get as involved in those games as I can in later gens. The 32/64 era seems to still hold the crown for the best games of its genres that it invented such as 3D platformers.

Fifth gen was the best. The N64, Gameboy Color, and Playstation had sooo many memorable games. Saturn had a few good titles as well. And as always PC had its share of hits (I'm looking at you, Starcraft!)

oh man it's gotta be the Playstation! i mean, i loved the classic-meets-quality style of the 16 bit SNES and Genesis, but when i look back on the games i loved, it's all about the PS1. my best gaming memories are all there.

Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater... if you have only played sequels of those games, or went back and played them later, you can never know how awesome it was when they first came out. it was the greatest generation of gaming, and for me it probably always will be because of the nostalgia i now associate with it.

Fifth generation. The Saturn and Nintendo 64 are my two favorite consoles of all time, and the PS1 isn't too far behind. I also happen to own a 3DO and Atari Jaguar, and in my eyes both systems are vastly under appreciated. Fourth generation is a close second. The Genesis and its add-ons, the SNES, the Turbografx-16, the Neo Geo AES/MVS... Near perfection.

5th generation. Games matured beyond the previous generation and had a bigger impact as well as outlasted the latter generations.

The fourth gen, because it had the PC Engine, the Mega Drive and the Neo Geo. Possible the three greatest consoles of all time.

The fifth generation is my favorite. The Playstation had so many great RPGs, and so many other games that were unlike anything that I had played during the 16 bit era.

^ SNES-Genesis and N64/Playstation 1. Consoles where consoles, PC where PCs and there where good (and difficult) games for each.

Not the current gen of once great PC game series/gametypes that have been dumbed down to the lowest common denominator.

I actually really like thsi current gen,but previously it was definitley the 16 bit era. Mostly because that was when I was in my formative years as a teenager, and it helped shape both my taste in games, and the fact that videogames would became my major hobby into my adult life.

saturn was a decent system. i have virtua fighter and bug, and now i think i may break it out sometime soon. i remeber the first time i played bug w/ it's 3d environments where you could walk on ceilings/ up walls and stuff. that was pretty cool for it's time.

This is the Generation when I came into my own as a gamer and I felt like games started to have a bigger impact.

Oh and whichever generation the Dreamcast was in.

Definitly the PSX/N64 Gen, but the PSX had a much bigger impact on me, that was the system that truly made me love gaming. Although my first system was the Genesis I still own, and I did enjoy playing it very much, PSX made me a "gamer". It launched gaming into a whole other stratosphere for me. I STILL play all of my old games today, the re-play value and longevity of those titles is incomparable in my eyes.

Current Gen hands down. I started playing games in the 16 bit gen, but the current gen is the first where I can actually buy all the games I want. I'm 19 btw.

I assume everyone is just naming the generation they grew up with as a kid right? That's pretty much the case for me. I started with the NES/Master System, quikcly moved onto the Mega Drive and SNES, but the PS1 and N64 consoles are my favourites. Ignoring the bigger, more famous titles, those consoles still had tons of gems.

For me it's easily the PS1/N64 era or also the fifth generaton as some of you call it. I was already a gamer long before then but damn, some of the best games ever made came out during that generation, some games that I still play alot to this day. Many games during that time really captivated your imagination and immersed you into them, like Final Fantasy VII. At the time I honestly felt like I could not live without Playstation...

The PS2/Xbox/Gamecube generation was my favorite. I think that the Original Xbox games are ten times better than the majority of the games on the 360! I also like the Gamecube more than the Wii, Good 'ol Metroid Prime, Melee, and Star Wars Rouge Squadorn II & III. The PS2 just had alot of games...that were good.

In retrospect, I can say 4th gen without the least bit of doubt. It had the most interesting things going for it, Nintendo's and Sega's best consoles, lots of great games - many of the greatest console games ever -, and that's when consoles games really had character. And back then I thought things were only gonna get better with the 5th gen. How wrong I was.

I would have to say the ps2/xbox/gamecube generation for me. Although I grew up in the snes and ps1 generations, I was much younger and was probably more of a casual gamer, and the TV was in the living room, so my parents always stopped me from playing games they disapproved of. I think I started to really appreciate video games when I first got a ps2. I had my own TV, and had more patience to really enjoy games.

Had great games and probably when I 1st started to actually get into gaming a little bit more.

This and with exlusives like Metroid Prime,Fable,,Shadow of the Colussus, R&C, Jak, and GOW you could'nt go wrong.
