Mine would definitely have to be the 32/64 bit generation. So many awesome titles that we still have today were first introduced in this gen. Not only that but games such as Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, and Mario were reinvented during this period. I could be wrong about this, but it seems as though this generation had the highest volume of amazing games then any other. But yeah, that is why my vote goes to this period that I fondly look back onto withnostalgia. How about you?Shenmue_JehutySame here. The 16 bit era seemed lacking to me in certain ways. IDK, I just can't get as involved in those games as I can in later gens. The 32/64 era seems to still hold the crown for the best games of its genres that it invented such as 3D platformers.
oh man it's gotta be the Playstation! i mean, i loved the classic-meets-quality style of the 16 bit SNES and Genesis, but when i look back on the games i loved, it's all about the PS1. my best gaming memories are all there.
Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater... if you have only played sequels of those games, or went back and played them later, you can never know how awesome it was when they first came out. it was the greatest generation of gaming, and for me it probably always will be because of the nostalgia i now associate with it.
Fifth gen was the best. The N64, Gameboy Color, and Playstation had sooo many memorable games. Saturn had a few good titles as well. And as always PC had its share of hits (I'm looking at you, Starcraft!)MrDziekuje
Wow, i LITERALLY forgot the Sega Saturn even existed until you just said that. Amazing.
THe Ps1 days man a lot of memories playing games on that console but the Gamecube,Xbox, and Ps2 era comes close so many great games and memories as well then.travisstaggsI support you

saturn was a decent system. i have virtua fighter and bug, and now i think i may break it out sometime soon. i remeber the first time i played bug w/ it's 3d environments where you could walk on ceilings/ up walls and stuff. that was pretty cool for it's time.
Gamecube/Xbox/PlayStation 2 Gen.
Had great games and probably when I 1st started to actually get into gaming a little bit more.
Same here. I was a gamer before the last gen started but I sort of became hardcore for awhile thanks to ps2.PPlaystation 2/Xbox/Gamecube.
This is the Generation when I came into my own as a gamer and I felt like games started to have a bigger impact.
Oh and whichever generation the Dreamcast was in.

I assume everyone is just naming the generation they grew up with as a kid right? That's pretty much the case for me. I started with the NES/Master System, quikcly moved onto the Mega Drive and SNES, but the PS1 and N64 consoles are my favourites. Ignoring the bigger, more famous titles, those consoles still had tons of gems.Raiko101
Yeah, nostalgia plays a big part in it.

Not me, the PS1 came out when I was in my early twenties. I really enjoyed the 16-bit generation too though.
For me it's easily the PS1/N64 era or also the fifth generaton as some of you call it. I was already a gamer long before then but damn, some of the best games ever made came out during that generation, some games that I still play alot to this day. Many games during that time really captivated your imagination and immersed you into them, like Final Fantasy VII. At the time I honestly felt like I could not live without Playstation...
In retrospect, I can say 4th gen without the least bit of doubt. It had the most interesting things going for it, Nintendo's and Sega's best consoles, lots of great games - many of the greatest console games ever -, and that's when consoles games really had character. And back then I thought things were only gonna get better with the 5th gen. How wrong I was.
Easily the 16-bit era. IMO, nothing comes close. We had four amazing consoles: The SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, Turbographx, and Neo Geo. Then there were two CD-ROM add-ons for the Genesis and Turbographx, both of which had their share of great games. I don't think we'll ever see another gaming generation that comes close the 16-bit era.Rocky32189Exactly this for me...SNES was the ultimate console, I loved it.
