GoldenEye 007. It is probably the game I've put in the most hours ever. I remember my friends and I spent two summers in a row, playing 8 hours a day, every day. And of course, we played every moment we were not in school and doing side jobs.
Edit: Basically every first person shooter on the N64. Perfect Dark and Duke Nukem join my list. All the wrestling games too, since my friends and I were all big on that back in the day. Lastly, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. were memorable.
As much as I harp on how the N64 was with all of its game delays, it really was the multiplayer console.
have you played MvC on Dreamcast? If not and you get the chance, take it. My vote goes to the side scrolling beat-em-ups. It's between TMNT: Turtles in Time or Streets of Rage 2-Mario Party games, N64.
-Marvel vs Capcom, PS (woo baby)
Lyphe2k
NBA Jam
Mario Kart
SSBM
Madden
NBA Street
MLB the Show
CruisN USA
Goldeneye
Fight Night
Mike Tyson's Punchout
F-Zero
Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Party. GodLovesDead
I think I love you, that was my exact list even before I saw your post. Althooough I think I might replace the original Mario party with # 2 or 3, I'm undecided, the first 3 were all grand. And I might add F Zero X onto that list. Halo: CE and Halo 2, although valid and featured some great multiplayer, just feel too new for me to include.
The N64 truly was the crowning king of local multiplayer.
My friends and I played Street Fighter II Turbo, and Super Street Fighter II with SNES. Later, we played Tekken 1-3 with Playstation. My old roommate from California decided to throw challenge to me for playing Playstation's Street Fighter Alpha 2. I played video games longer than him. He told me that he was best Street Fighter II player, and asked me about how I was playing. I replied, "I am just average player." We played Street Fighter Collection Vol. 1 with SFA 2 Gold. He found out that I beat him with my Chun Li many times. He asked me why I lied him that I was average. I replied many hearing players beat me in New York City because we played often with combos. He played with one to two hits combos often while I played more than four hits combos. He did not know about it until my sister's friend Eddie played against him. Eddie beat him too. Well... my old roommate grew up in town while I grew up in city.
My favorite multiplayer games- Soul Calibur 2 (Gamecube), Naruto Clash of Ninja 2 (Gamecube), Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Dreamcast), Tekken 5 (Playstation 2)
Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES. Getting everyone together for a weekend was an event for us in high school. Pick a team and get playin'. Try to do a whole season in 48 hours.
Final Fight wasn't even a 2-player game on the SFC.Any beat 'Em' up game on the SNES. Especially final fight.

"An initial port of Final Fight for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was released as a launch title for the console in Japan (December 21, 1990) and later in North America (November 11, 1991) and then in Europe and Australia (December 10, 1992). The 2-player cooperative feature was removed, turning the game into a strictly single-player experience; the Industrial Area level, along with its boss Rolento, were removed; and Guy, one of the main characters, was omitted, leaving Cody and Haggar as the remaining playable characters. It is also worth noting that due to the SNES' lack of power, only three enemy sprites could be on screen at once (as opposed to seven in the arcade original) making this port easier and less hectic."

No you didn't. At least not on the mediocre SFC edition.
