Mario, and another game I don't know the name of. You were in space and you pilot robot dinosaurs and fight other robot dinosaurs...I was really young when I played it.
The Guardian Legend...it was a definitestep up in maturity level in games for me at that time, and I loved the scrolling/fllying combat and searching out the cool new weapons.....if only the password system wouldve been better...
Edit: This is actually one of the few NES games I still play, even
Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Skate or Die, The Legend of Zelda, Rad Racer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game, Metroid, Duck Hunt.
As you can see, I have no one favorite. These are just my favorites. Of course everybody knows why the Mario series was great, Skate or Die has that nostalgic feel with hilarious characters and fun gameplay. The Legend of Zelda has infinite potential which means the game can go on forever, TMNT 2 is just plain fun and the best TMNT game I own. Metroid is a pure original game with open-world action and shooting, Duck Hunt invented the light gun and I'm a veteran champion.
Although I believe Super Mario 3 to be my favorite game, I always come back to thinking of Dream Master, so I'm going with that.
StarTropics. I've played it to the point where I can beat the game in one sitting without dying. Needless to say, I've spent countless hours on it...
I've only played 2 - The Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. They were Gameboy ports but I guess it still counts. I prefered Zelda 2 anyway.
It's hard to choose just one. My favorites are Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Contra and Final Fantasy.
I'd have to go with TMNT: The Manhattan Project. I think that game won EGM's NES game of the year in 1992. I loved that game so much.
This is a very hard question to answer.
I think Battletoads may be my favourite because my brother and I played it so much. There's always Maniac Mansion as well... dangit
SMB3, LOZ, Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man Series
Mario 2... Blew Chunks as did LOZ 2 at the time. Weird, cause both of them now I can play through and enjoy.
Zelda 2 never "blew chunks". Yeah, it wasn't the top-down view game that people wanted, but the game itself was (and is) awesome. It's like asking for a puppy for your birthday and getting a bar of gold instead. Does the bar of gold suck? No. It might not have been what you were wanting, but it's still awesome. Mario 2 was great, too. The only reason people ever complained was because they were different than the first games and people like to complain when they don't get what they expect. The fact that you can play and enjoy those games today is a testament to that.SMB3, LOZ, Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man Series

SMB 1 & 3 (obviously), Castlevania 1 and 3, and the 3rd turtles game were my favorites. If I had to pick one though it would CERTAINLY be Castlevania 3.
PS this thread lacks castlevania... seriously.
Mike Tyson's Punchout! is my favorite by far. Then maybe Tecmo Super bowl, Super Mario Bros. 3, or RC pro-am.
I find it funny that nobody has mentioned any unlicenced NES games yet. My favorite has to be Crystal Mines by Color Dreams. SMB and SMB3 are close seconds, and Final Fantasy is awesome. Zelda's good, but christ, it isn't that good (blasphemy, I know), and Castlevania is only excellent if you have played it for 100 hours. It's good, but damn it's hard.
