You are more than welcome to post in any of my threads.

It's somewhat fitting that I am the first to reply, because my favourite platform is the PS2 for the same reason yours is XBox. It's the one that we have! I am very happy with my PS2. When I was buying it (a completely impulse purchase) I looked over the Xbox rack and the PS2 rack (didn't even know there was a Gamecube) and saw Final Fantasy over there with the PS2 stuff. So that's what I bought.

Since then I have really enjoyed catching up with not only the PS2 library, but also the PS1 library as it plays those as well. It's just so much to do!!

At the same time, nothing beats heading over to my buddies place for an all night hockey fest on his Xbox. We usually do NHL 07 over there, and the graphics are really sharp. Nice controllers too.

So there you go

see, muthsera......it's THAT easy. there's no reason for me to go about thrashing other people's parties if they leave mine alone. no disrespect meant there and i hope peace would prevail among all of us.

why i like ps2? becoz my observation tells me that it is indeed the best of the last gen. it's not blind fanboism. first of all it's immense library of AAA games, which greatly surpass that of other consoles both in quantity and quality. it's got fantastic exclusives as well as multiplat titles across every genre, and i am hardpressed to name an Xbox or Gamecube exclusive that truly interests me....few came to mind, but they just don't warrant enough reason for me to buy the system. people also claim that PS2 is limited in online play. that is true. but coming from more than 10 years of pc gaming before buying my first console, console online content ( especially that of FPS )is hardly impressive. last but not least, it is the only last gen console that is not dead -- ie. it's still selling, and there are still titles coming out for PS2. i really don't know how one could otherwise define "dead".....but that's not my problem unless he or she makes it mine.

Jinroh_Basic, I was wondering how sarcastic you would be. I noticed you still made a couple of digs on me, but I'm willing to let it go. I can understand why you would gravitate toward the PlayStation 2 library. Truly, there are several excellent games there.

And, I realize that I neglected to discuss my own favorite console. To some, it is not surprise that I prefer the Xbox. However, it is important to not that the main reason for this preference is the one to which spanky333 alluded. The Xbox is the only last-gen console I have been able to purchase. I still look forward to the time when I will purchase a PS2 and a GameCube. Both of these other systems have great games that were not made multiplatform and I want to play them.

However, for now, I will continue to make minor investments in Xbox games. Over the years, I have spent an average of $10 per game, and I have over 70 games. The best part of it is that I can't really find any games that I completely regret purchasing.

My favourite 'legacy platform' would also have to be the PS2. I had a PS1, but I was more of a casual gamer with that, I never got around to playing any of the classic titles until I went up to the then next-generation of systems. The main reason I like the PS2 better than other systems is because it has a huge library of games and more importantly, more games that cater to my personal tastes better than the Xbox or the GC. I am a big Action/Adventure and Survival Horror fan and aside from a select few games on the other systems (Xbox had Ninja Gaiden and GC had Eternal Darkness and REmake), they didn't cater for that as well as the PS2.

Sony does have a larger base of survival horror games, despite some attempts on the other systems.

The PC is my platform of choice and has been for almost 15 years. So it's both a legacy platform and current a current platform.

There are lots of reasons why I like the PC and here's a few:

Lots of games.

Backwards compatiblity from older games.

Ability to play games from older consoles.

Freeware software community.

Mod community.

Internet.

Video editing.

Audio editing.

Word processing and other office type stuff.

etc etc.

I would have to say N64. It is close between that and my Dreamcast, though. It has all the Nintendo franchises. The only bad thing for me is the N64 is really lacking in the RPGs.

And if you were wanting a gamecube, now is the perfect time to pick one up. You can get one for about 30. The games are starting to get cheap also.

PS1. Not because of technology or anything, but the majority of my favorite games, and best times with games, has been thanks to it.

It's about the same for the PS2. The problem is that $30 witll get me four or five games for my Xbox. Due to my financial situation right now, it makes more fiscal sense to purchase games instead of another system.

RE4- Basically a timed exclusive

Sonic Adventure- Dreamcast Port

Zelda TTP- I know it was developed on GC first, but it is still on the Wii, so it's not a GC exclusive

Phantasy Star Online- Dreamcast port, pretty sure it hit Xbox too

Skies of Arcadia- Dreamcast port

Ikaruga- Dreamcast port I'm pretty sure

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes- Keyword: remake of a PS1 game

Resident Evil remake- Keyword: remake of a PS1 game

Super Monkey Ball- Didn't this series hit the other platforms?

Soul Calibur 2- Also on the other last gen systems.

Let's face it, the Gamecube was host to many games that were already on previous platforms. I love the Cube and I love many of the games you listed, and I think it was underrated, but this is still the truth. I agree that I probably enjoyed my GC the most last gen though.

As for my personal pick, I'm finding it hard not to pick the NES. I'm taking a look at my top 100 list and 21 of them are on the NES, with the SNES running a very close second. However, of the 21 NES games, only 6 are in the top 50....while the SNES has 10. Tough choice, but I'll lean towards the SNES for having more favorites that are in the upper half of my list.

RE4 was on the GC first, then ported to the PS2 and the other consoles (wii, pc). but it was definitely a GC exclusive first. and one of the best.
Zelda, GC first. Nintendo exclusive.
REmake was yes, a remake of the first PS1 Resident Evil, but it had some major modifications, thus making it a whole new experience and exclusive to the gamecube. Same with Metal Gear.
Soul Calibur was on the other systems, but Soul Calibur for GC was different because you could unlock Link.
the other games are dreamcast ports, but so what? they're still awesome and they rock.
and yes, Monkey Ball was on other consoles, so my mistake.

It doesn't matter if RE4 was on it first...it still came to be "unexclusive." Twilight Princess came out a month earlier on the Wii. I'm aware it is a Nintendo exclusive...but not a GC exclusive. The major modifications for the remakes was mainly graphics....they were not whole new experiences because they would have been completely different games. One exclusive character doesn't make Soul Calibur 2 a GC exclusive. I'm not dissing the Dreamcast ports, but that's what they are, once again, not exclusive.

my favorite system is the snes , because it offers me a variety of games. the games i have are still fun to play and the graphics are great for its time, heck whats not to like about games like zombies ate my nieghbors the original mario series rock n roll racing the list goes on and on even the ps2 couldnt offer me these games, yes all systems have alot of good games but snes just had more variety in that , the n64 and ps2 would tie to be my next pick ,, as they also have great exclusives from goldeneye to the gta series while it may not be exclusive no more it was in the begining , so ya ,

my favorite handheld is the ds /gba obviously,

my favorite modern console is wii

My favorite console without a doubt is the SNES. This system was built to stand the test of time and then some. My SNES has been borrowed out, tossed out of a window, transported across state numerous times in a bumpy U-Haul truck, kicked, punched, slapped, exposed to a ton of second hand smoke, beer spilt on it and it still works like the day I bought it. There were some great games for the SNES as well. It had a good mix of genres that had something for everyone. I love my PS2, but I had it for one year and it went belly up. This was with it being in a protective case designed just to house video game systems and with normal use.

I'm curious if the pair of you know how to read at all. I'm merely questioning the validity of summer_star17's choices, which is why I picked out the ones I had an issue with. I'm not questioning his choice for favorite console, favorite games, and so on...I'm just pointing out that many of his "exclusives" are not really exclusives. Why is reading comprehension complete garbage these days....

Xbox, because I like the controllers better than the PS2 ones, and there are a lot more Xbox games that I like more than the games for PS2.

N64. It has so many great games I still enjoy playing and I've yet to play some of its classics.

I understand. That's part of the reason I love my Xbox. For the four years I've had it, the cost of games comes out to around $10 or $11 a game, which I think is pretty good. Though it is a bit pricey in the long run, considering the number of games I have...

My favorite platforms are the playstation and xbox

I choose playstation overall because that system got me into gaming. So many series started there resident evil, twisted metal, crash bandicoot etc. For the xbox I liked because of Halo and many computer games ported to it. I couldnt play them on my computer so xbox made perfect sense. Plus not having to worry about memory cards anymore, also use it as my mp3 player
