Favorite Story In A Game?

right now im picking Kingdom Hearts cause im re-playing it nd im getting all sentimental

I have to pick The World Ends with You because it actually had more than a few legitimate twists. The writing was great, and every character had their own stories that I actually cared about.

I would have to go with XenoGears, PlaneScape Torment, Metal Gear Solid 2, Half Life 2and FF: Tactics. They had had pretty good stories, characters, and settings.

Cod4 was really good. the stories behind the missions fitted together really well, and it was quite a clever story too.

Mass effect // MGS 2 & 4 // Some FF

-All the Metal Gear Solids have a great story. The fourth one was pushing a bit though.
-God of War has an interesting story with the whole Greek mythology thing.
-I'm replaying Silent Hill 2 at the moment after forgetting everything about it. It's a very good story and I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I remember thinking it had a good story before.
-The Legend of Zelda had a great story but it has become pretty much the same thing in every game now.
-I absolutely love the Prince of Persia trilogy story. I've always liked anything with time travel.

That's a lot of games but they all have great stories :D

Silent Hill 2. One of the few video games that trancends story that's "great and original. . .for a video game" and becomes something that stands well on it's own. It has symbolism, emotion, and perfectly done storytelling.

No more heroes. Definetely full of twists..

Tales of Symphonia was one of my Favs, it was my first game that had a compelling story line :3

The silent hill games, and bioshock, loved the story in that.

MGS4 followed by MGS3.

First I'd like to say that anyone that thought MGS1 had a great story probaly never read a book or anything else with a story. The only things that really stood out were FoxDie and Metal Gear Rex. I haven't played the other 3 yet.

The storylines I liked were SW KotOR, Halo (mainly due to books), Bioshock, MGS4 (I haven't played it but I downloaded a 6 hour vid to check all the cutscenes. Alot of retarded scenes much like MGS1 butthere arereally interesting parts, especially the part when Snake finally meets Big Momma and she starts talking!), GTAIV, Prototype. I have alot of respect for the Half-Life story but I could never really get into it, eventho I've played both 1 and 2. I'll still need to work on the episodes, maybe those will reveal more. Atleast the gameplay was top notch. ^_^

EDIT: No More Heroes is nice too, weird but that's what makes it so appealing.

Warcraft lore is so many thousands of miles ahead of everything else in terms of story.

Hmm .. this Gen id say Mass effect.

all time.. Mass effect, chrono triggger, ff7, Fallout 2, Sam and Max: hit the road, Day of the tentacle .. theres so many games with great story.
