Hey,

What are your TOP 3 favorite Nintendo handhelds? All versions of all handhelds count. My list would be:

1. Gameboy Avance - original version: Superbly comfortable to hold, with the best shoulder-buttons ever. Also, the GBA has a fantastic library of games, inlcuding one of my all-time favorites, Metroid Fusion. Should have had a back-lit screen, but otherwise, perfect.

2. Original DS Fat - Far more comfortable to hold than later iterations of the system, and I far prefer the clickyness of the buttons to the squishiness of the Lite.

3. Gameboy Pocket - Again, super comfortable, great library of games, and lots of great memories of LoZ: Link's Awakening, Super Mario Land and Pokémon.

I would incluce the GBA SP, but that had no headphone jack, which is the worst sin commitable by a media-device.

What's your's?

Finally! Somebody understands that the Gameboy Advance is FAR better than the SP. I agree with you completely on that, but I like DS Lite, then in third is the DSi, the DSi's buttons broke too easily.

I'd say the DS. Plenty of great games and a solid system.

You can use headphones with the SP, you just need an adapter to plug them into the charger port:

GBA SP Headphone adapter

There are also headphones designed specifically for it that you can plug directly into the port.

Wow, I always thought it had one.

Thats kind of stupid you have to buy an adapter just to plug headphones in.

As for my list:

  1. DS Lite - I never played a DS Fat. Still, an awesome game library and GBA compatibility make it my favorite handheld overall.
  2. Game Boy Advance SP - I'll admit that the original GBA is more comfortable, but the SP's backlight makes a world of difference for me.
  3. Game Boy Color - Great GB and GBC game library, very light and easy to carry, long battery life. I've spent countless hours on Pokemon Silver and Crystal.

Yeah, it is, considering even the original Game Boy had a headphone jack.

For the legacy ones GBA SP. As for the current-gen 3DS since it costs about the same as DSi yet is better in all ways.

I have to say the GBA Sp is my favorite. The GBA is nice, but it doesnt fold shut, no backlight (just like the other older gameboys), and it doesnt have a rechargeable battery. The battery on the GBA sp lasts a LONG time too. The original Gameboy and pocket had good battery life, but no backlight. The DS is pretty nice, but i havent got around to buying one yet. One of these days I'll get a 3DS, ive played it at Gamestop and Bestbuy and the games i've played so far are great.

Well to tell the truth I personally like the original GB best:

But Pocket is better in all ways and there is really no reason why not pick the GBA SP over them all today.

I think the DS, with GBA in a close second. Both are excellent. (I would say GBC but the only games I've played for it are the Zelda ones! Awesome games though.)

I always thought the screen was just too small. Was a nice idea though.

I don't have a top 3, but the DSlite was the best because of the dual screens, touch screen and game library.
