I can't believe the impossible puzzle I came across today in this game. At this point in the game, I'm supposed to find the entrance to Medusa's Lair so I can get Medusa's Tears to cure this guy that got cursed and turned into a parrot. The entrance to the lair is hidden. In a town, I am given this clue in these words: "The clue is...palm trees and the number 8." Okay, so I go out and start exploring with that clue in mind. I come to a screen that has 8 palm trees. I figure, this must it. I do everything to try and find this entrance, I use the mattock on every square inch, I kill every enemy, I push on objects, I attack freaking trees even; and nothing happens. So I move on and countinue to explore and I find nothing else that fits the clue. So now I am forced to look at the walkthrough online, which I hate resorting to, it takes the fun out of it. Turns out this is what I have to do: I have to find a screen that has two palm trees apart from each other. Then with my character I have to make a figure 8 movement around the palm trees a couple of times. HOW IN THE HECK WOULD I HAVE FIGURED THAT ONE OUT! Never in a game have I seen anything like that to open a door, and never up to that point in that very game have I had to do anything similar. And the clue does not tell you enough to know to make a freaking figure 8! That is just poor game design, plain and simple. So not all Final Fantasy are awesome, despite what rabid RPG fanboys say. Back in the day when this was released, you would have had to buy the Strategy Guide to figure this out, and that's even if they made one. I'm not sure if they made strategy guides for Gameboy original games. Only the quite wealthy had internet connections in the late 80s, and even then it was pretty primitive and I'm sure they didn't have walkthroughs then. What a rip-off. I would have been livid if I had bought this at full-price back then. -Nate-

Where? What clue? You mean the one I quoted? Cause how would gather to walk in a figure 8 motion from that? Especially when they throw a red herring in there like a screen with exactly 8 palm trees. -Nate-

FF Adventure series shouldn't count as FF at all since it was a totally diferent series - called Sa-Ga - in Japan. Square just made it turn into FF to allow them to release it in the west and make some quick money.

I own the Japanese original game and you can surely imagine I never made it to the end... :)

Actually, in DKC 3 there are 2 stones you have to make afigure 8 around them, and it opens a door. I figured it out pretty easily, but it just seemed obvious.

But I guess I kind of got off the subject :P

I'm not sure about that but I'm pretty sure it came from Sa-ga...

Yeah, he's right. Final Fantasy Adventure is basically the Secret of Mana 0. -Nate-
