Go for it, I still haven't tried to beat Ultimecia since a couple months ago. Worst time ever. I should have never have leveled up quistis to 100. haha.
Don't give up, and I hope you stocked up on Aura, Trained Zell, and have The recovery option.
Here's a tip: Defeat Bahamut, get the card, and turn it into the 100 Mega-elixirs. You'll thank me later.Myviewing
why is that ? i didnt even use normal elixir in that game, maybe not even potion
just play the game, dont grind and it will be the easiest game.
well people i have finaly made my mind up and i am going to try my hardest to beat this game i have tried twice in the past and i just couldnt get into the story but this time i am going to do it no matter what cheer me onnjean777
I don't know how to describe FF8 except that it was a really cool game that was fun to play, and the Junction system was so cool. After you've finally beaten the game you'll thank yourself. FF8 is good times.
Good Luck

I managed it despite having my 3 main characters at lv 100 although it was hard as hell and the battle lasted for roughly 2 1/2 hours in total.
That's the one thing I didn't really like about FF8, you were actually PUNISHED for levelling up, which IMO doesn't really work well in a traditional JRPG.
well i started it today and i am at the part ***Spoiler****
where im at galbaldia garden
the only question i have is i remember playing it long ago and i could never beat bahamut how do i get to him cuz i have never been this far in this game and somehow i got to him once early on i think he is on a sunken ship or something but anyways any help would be appreciated.
and on the topic yeah the junction system is not that great i agree but the story is pretty good so far i hate drawing but i do it anyways i just got used to it i guess
good luck.honestly you dont really need to level up in the game its all about the magic you have junctioned on your character take some time to find spells to junction then it would be alot easier
i need to go through that game again, its so awesome.
i only made it to the 2nd disc until my file got erased ugh. i need a new memory card.

You can't get Bahamut until disc 3 when you have an airship. Search the southwest corner of the world map until you find the Deep Sea Research Center. Once you get inside, you have to answer 3 questions, and fight a couple of ruby dragons (I HATE ruby dragons!!!). Then you get to fight Bahamut.
Stock up on aura stones and level Rinoa up. That's my best advice. Rinoa's dog will revive you if you die. Use her as your healer and Squall to do only Lionhearts. Zell's last limit (I forget the name) is pretty helpful too, but you can also use him to heal and revive Squall (especially when Ultimecia does that meteor thing).

IIRC the Laguna card can be turned into 100 invincibilities. That and bring loads of Aura (I think it was). In FF8 as a general rule your HP should be near full or kept low so you can spam limit breaks. If with aura and invincibility on you only have to heal to avoid being on 1 health in the last fight.
Also...use the refining system. It can let you juntion really high level magic quite early on in the game making things easier (levelling up makes virtually no difference in this game, FF8's version of grinding involoves drawing lots and lots of magic).
